Reviews are brutal for the latest versions. That they are not readable and the quality of chips have gone down. So my suggestion is skip this or try it and return if not likeable. You have till Jan 31st to return.

Decent game that is quite popular, but I recommend checking out the similar but overall better version called splendor duel (only 2 player) or a better game with similar mechanics century golem/century spice road.

Huh. When I played at my friends house I was really impressed by the weight of the chips. Then I bought this one and find them just okay.

It's likely because what you are receiving is a knockoff. I have the old cover art from Amazon and it is 100% a fake. Pixelated box/cards, tokens are lightweight and not uniform, plastic that houses the pieces is incredibly thin and cheap. 3 board games in my collection are fakes, all from AMZ.

This is a knockoff and a bad deal. Look at some of the images in the recent Amazon reviews. The chips are poorly shaped, many of the stickers are pixelated or faded, and the cards are garbage.

This is 100% not a knockoff - it's just the latest printing. It's also the not the first time that Splendor has had a lower quality printing.

Call it what you want, the product description is just wrong. The previous, high quality version, weighed in at approximately 2.3 pounds. The newer, low quality version, weighs in at approximately 1.8 pounds. Amazon is giving the wrong physical description, suggesting it is the old item with the old weight. Maybe not a knockoff, but it should not be lumped in with the previous item as though they are the same thing.

Same problem on Walmart & Target's websites as well - probably an issue with the vendor listing in general.

I recently bought Splendor from Amazon, have played it a couple of times. I just checked in the box, and I don't see any of these issues. The cards feel fine, the stickers' images are crisp and vibrant, and the chips are pretty uniform.

The only issue is that the chips are much lighter weight in the new version than in the older printing.

There are also big time counterfeit games on Amazon. A game manufacturer/publisher will reject a pallet that has game errors/mistakes and sketchy third party sellers buy them cheap and re-sell on Amazon. And Amazon's guarantee for defective third party items is ZERO. ZIP. NADA. I just bought a fan remote from a third party seller on Amazon that arrived broken and had to FIGHT Amazon for 30 minutes before they finally issued a ONE TIME "courtesy" refund, because it was a third party. Seriously??? Ever heard of EBay, who consists entirely of third party sellers and always 100% guaranteed?? And Amazon has some responsibility for who they let sell on their site. Please be aware, I was shocked when this happened last week and am intentionally buying on other sites much more now. And now these issues with crappy counterfeit game copies…I used to always go to Amazon first and not any more.
