Pikmin is a fantastic series, it's sort of a cross between action adventure, real time strategy, and puzzle solving. If you've never played it before, I'd recommend going straight to Pikmin 4, it's the newest one and has a ton of features and improvements that make it very welcoming to new players, especially compared to 1 and 2. 1 and 2 are great games as well, but they're 20 years old and you can tell, the UI can be clunky and the gameplay is unforgiving in a lot of ways. The Switch re-release didn't do much at all to modernize them, just a few little tweaks and bug fixes, along with upscaled graphics.

Pikmin is such a fun game. My buddy and I played endless hours of 3 on the Wii U. 3 is short and sweet campaign wise but endless hours for multiplayer. 4's campaign at total completion is longggggg but really fun. Haven't gotten to play multiplayer on it. I'm looking to get the 1+2 when this goes live. The concept just looking at it seems weird and boring but I love it lol

Jamboree is eligible for the digital download voucher (2 for $99.98)
As far as physical copies, my local Costco had Jamboree listed for $52.99.

For your exact same reasons is why I would suggest starting with 1+2 and progressing through. It would be hard to go back. Assuming you want to play through them all.

I will pickup Pikmin 1/2. I love Pikmin 3, but so far haven't been a huge fan of 4. I'm about 4-5 hours in and I'm frankly bored. Nothing has even remotely been challenging.
