For people subscribing for the first time, I'd recommend signing up as soon as the discount is live so that next year there's not much overlay in your subscription expiring and the discount going live again, and if you don't auto renew this year's sub you'd most likely be able to grab the discount next year too.

But the loyal subscribers are already the paying customers who have shown they are okay with paying full price. Cutting the cost there wouldn't benefit Sony. That's why they target new customers, it increases their bottom line with new subscribers who weren't previously paying anything.

How long does this deal last?

Also my subscription ends on Dec 15th. I already cancelled it a few days ago and PS is offering me this deal to renew. I think I'll try and get some discount psn cards if the deal lasts until Saturday.

Thanks! I already had the essential expiring in a couple months so I just upgraded to premium for the remainder months but then picked up a year of premium after that for 30% off
