For people subscribing for the first time, I'd recommend signing up as soon as the discount is live so that next year there's not much overlay in your subscription expiring and the discount going live again, and if you don't auto renew this year's sub you'd most likely be able to grab the discount next year too.

If you don't want to renew at highest tire in a few months, you can cancel auto renewal. Let it expire and then resub at the tier you want.

Dropped this after the price hike. The content is just not worth the price increases. At least with Gamepass I can pay with Microsoft Rewards.

My PS+ essential just expired 2 days ago and when I try to renew for 12 months, it's giving me a discount which brings the total to $63.99.

So, you don't have to be a new subscriber to get the discount.

My sub expires in just a few days (did the extra one last black Friday but paid $10 more for some reason) and was offered the same subscription for 102$ this year. Although I got a discount I don't think it's worth anymore - I've played the top games I wanted to play and honestly there weren't other games in the catalog worth my time.

Not sure if I am doing anything differently, but I am an active Plus Extra subscriber (with 90 days left) and can extend it for $101.24 (this is 25% off of $134.99) for one more year continuously. Using Costco PS5 gift cards brings it down to $80 (GCs are $89 right now, I got mine earlier this year for $80). So, it works for the existing subscribers (at least some).

So my PS Plus expired yesterday. Today,I had my son buy me a gift card so I can re-purchase my PS Plus essential. I entered the gift card, went to ps store to buy my Essential, I saw it was being offered for $63.99. Im not a new member, so If your PS Plus is expired by a day, you should be good to go and take advantage of the new price.

Sorry Sony, $64 for essentials is still a ripoff with the (lack of) quality games included over the last couple years. Give me a much cheaper option without the lame games for those of us who just want multiplayer access.
