Ugh Sony did this last time, too. While it's great new customers get subscription discounts, it would be great if the loyal (current) subscribers would get either a better percentage or a percentage off their current subscription tier instead of requiring an upgrade.

I don't want to upgrade my tier, I'm fine with essentials. Please don't require current subscribers to upgrade their tier to get any sort of deal. I hate this tactic.
It's like Internet service and auto insurance: loyalty is punished, disloyalty is rewarded.

At least with auto insurance, you can shop around. Can't do that with ISPs or PS Plus...

Can you use ps giftcards to add funds to your account and use them to sign up for essential subscription?

If the Anonymous hackers and others can disrupt service; I don't see why they can't figure out a grand way to help all us little people get free or discounted service.

We need a jailbreak on the PS service. Can't even play a leisurely hunting game online with my nephew. 😔

Yes, in fact that would make the subscription even cheaper cause every now and then the gift cards themselves are on sale

Does this work if you previously had PS Plus but canceled? I assume not.
I vaguely remember joining PS plus on a discount last Black Friday, even if I had it previously and cancelled many times.

The general consensus is that the service has become overpriced and the return on investment is not there. Hopefully more people not re-newing senda signal and hit Sony where it hurts the most, Their wallet and bring prices down. Having competition also helps.
That was my thought way back after the last price hike. The thing is that it would take a momentous amount of us shunning PS+ to send that message due to how Sony has revised the pricing. The pricing is up enough that it really would take a monstrous amount of us staying clear to make a point though I can assure you that I'll be one of those folks once my subscription lapses...I looked into cancelling it way back but apparently that isn't such a thing. I was so pissed and disappointed that I was ready to just give it back on the premise alone 😆

I cancelled last year and never looked back.
Ya know, I kind of agree with this. I got tired of the price which if I'm being honest isn't terrible but I bought some games, on the cheap, I play offline and haven't felt like I really miss the on-line play. I mean it's fun to tear up a map on Battlefield but there are a lot of other games out there that are perfectly enjoyable that don't require you to pony up for PS+. If the free games were better I could be enticed back but I'll probably skip this deal even though I set a deal alert for it Big Grin

Yes, or at least they used to allow this last year.

Just went to load up RDR2, I was deep into Chapter 6.. only to see that RDR2 left PS+ earlier this week.

That, combined with no deal for existing subscriptions, caused me to cancel.

So if they don't offer you a discount, will you not renew next time?
I guess it depends if there is some must have game. I'm okay going without PS+ for a while but Final Fantasy 7 rebirth or some other game I really want to play comes to PS+ I will likely cave.
