Have the 28-75 and the 70-180. Only feedback is I wish the second lens was a 75-200 but they've both been great lenses although the plastic feels a tad cheep.

One of my favorite things Tamron did actually is to make the filter size for all the lenses 67mm so I didn't have to buy different size filters. I ended up getting some magnetic ones to easily swap filters between lenses. If you do do that though I recommend getting a slightly larger step ring (or whatever it's called) to use larger filters when at 28mm you could barely see the filter vignette added.

Holding out for 20-40 f2.8 , it's more useful range than 17-28

cropping in another 20mm shouldn't be too bad right, or do Sony's not have digital zoom in body?

I have the 28-75 and 70-180. Although they've been pretty good, the Autofocus on the 28-75 just crapped out and I'm sending it in for repairs. 6yr warranty, so I'll be covered - but I really don't take that many photos for it to crap out this early. Heard other issues of this too.
