Save 20% with trade in. You can buy a Fire tablet for $10 on woot today and trade that in for 20% off (at least $24) plus whatever they give you for the trade in (probably $5)

Had a spare Fire 7. Got $20 for the trade in and 20% off. Sweet deal 🔥
what are the advantages of new kindle vs older versions ? anything significant other than increased space and maybe wireless/fast charging ?do the newer versions of kindle allow sideloading of ebooks ?
Better ppi, different temperature settings for screen light and probably more storage. You won't notice anything different unless you buy a kindle scribe that comes with larger screen and a pen.
I am looking into the Kindle kids. what i am seeing is that they reduced the device cost by about $30 but also reduced the free Kindle Kids+ subscription from 12 months to 6 months. That subscription is about $6 a month, so 6 months would be $36.
I know I don't have to keep the subscription but getting this for $30 less and still having the 12 months free would have been a slick deal indeed!!
I think kindle kids comes with better replacement warranty for 2 years or 1 year, not sure
2015 Paperwhite still going strong. The only thing I wish for is the ability to change the light color to warm/amber at night. At this price though, no way.
I've been tempted to get one of these every sale I see but still rocking the OG one with the keyboard that's still going strong. Obviously can't access apps like Libby which would be nice

Faster processors with quick page turn and minimal ghosting
Wireless charging
Yellow colorbar at the bottom of the screen (apparently for bad QA of Amazon)
That's why I think if you want to get a new one, get a base version of the kindle. Amazon mentioned they are working on this "yellowing" issue, and will fix this using an "update".
This is a nice table which compares all of the kindles in one go: https://comparisontabl.es/kindle-e-readers/
That website link is a lifesaver. Completely new to these devices & am overwhelmed by the versions/differences

That comparison is not fully accurate. Regular paperwhite doesn't have wireless charging - that is only signature edition thing. Also yellow color bar mostly likely affects only colorsoft. On reddit there was a bit of hysteria for that bar in paperwhite as well, but really wasn't substantiated.
interesting that the new ones according to y'all are having problems. I guess I'll continue to use my Paperwhite 2 for a while until those problems are worked out. The better display and color temp would probably be a big improvement, water resistance would also be nice.

I'm really tempted.
I currently have the regular kindle from 2021 but I use it so much (usually a book a week) that I think it's worth it to upgrade.
There was a really good deal last year that I missed out on but this also seems like a good deal overall since I can get the 20% off and $20-30 for my current one.
If you bought a regular Kindle in 2021 you should have the 10th gen Kindle with micro-USB and the 167PPI screen---at the very least upgrade to the current 6" Kindle. You get the 300PPI screen and USB-C for charging, it's a no brainer. If you can afford it, I would strongly consider going with the Paperwhite. I traded in my 2018 Paperwhite for the current-gen...it's SO NICE to finally be rid of the micro-USB port, and the extra inch of screen real-estate is quite nice--and once you get used to the lit screen you'll wonder how you lived without it.
