Good price but get the 512GB (with 16GB memory), the 256MB model has relatively poor performance as it is a single chip. The dual chip models, like the 512GB and up, do not have this issue.

Got this same deal from Costco 2 weeks back, good performance. Decent for a high schooler going to college. Would do well for college, and then buy the online cloud space for a few $$ if needed.

Just don't want to overspend more than what's needed. And it would be a M8 in next 4 years and even the latest M4 would be outdated.
Save yourself some money and avoid going over board with technology since it's going to change so fast in next few years.

My 2 cents!!

Performance concerns you might as well upgrade to the M3 which eliminates the SSD issue and gets a 15% boost from newer chip. IRL performance you're not likely to see much if any difference on SSDs and tests generally reflect that.

Also, sustained read/write is slower but supposedly random read/write is on par or better than M1 Air which is going to be more important for day to day use anyway.
