I bought this used about 3 years ago for my 2 kids. It doesn't fold up THAT small and is pretty heavy to lift. That being said, we've used it a ton and still used it for Halloween this year. Both kids fit in it and I have used it over sand for a decent distance but you should be in good shape in order to do that
