Pros:
- CPU: Very powerful CPU with reasonable power efficiency compared to 13XX intel CPUS
- GPU: 4070 RTX has full power available.
- Build quality is reviewed as solid, very RGB gaming forward looks, nice keyboard.
Cons:- Screen: I would like to see a QHD screen and more than 250 nits of brightness.
- Ports: USB-C is only 10GB/s compared to 20 - 40GB/s on other laptops.
- Battery life: 6 hours listed, 4 hours in review.
- iGPU: Radeon 610M is not as good as a 780M for non-gaming tasks.
The review questions the choice of CPU/GPU and screen for this laptop and I agree that they're not the best match. A super powerful CPU provides much more processing power than you are likely to need with a 4070 GPU and both of those are seriously overpowered for a 1080 screen.In this price range I would take a look at Acer Nitro 16 with AMD 7840HS CPU and 4070 RTX GPU with a 500 nits QHD screen and faster USB-C ports. Ebay Acer certified refurbished has them for about $1250. Keep an eye out for sales in the $1000 range.
This laptop will play games at very high framerates, but you will be disappointed by the screen and you won't likely make use of all of the power of the Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU. If you already have a QHD/4K external monitor that you will use most of the time, then this might be a good deal for you.

I just got a notification that it's back in stock.
For some reason, they decided to remove like 50% of the thermal mass at the laptops arse to just add the backports; it also only has two fans compared to the Strix G16.
