How big is your screen? I'm guessing it has to be decent size and you need to sit quite close to see ANY difference from the non-pro PS5?

It's 55 inches, not huge but I didn't see a big difference between the pro and slim in quality, I think it's too early to really see any big improvements so I'm fine with the slim for how casually I game

I got this deal (got the pickup email; just need to pick it up from target), but I am now wondering if I should get it. I am not into gaming anymore but my 9 YO son has just begun and he uses my old PS3 which still works perfectly. I was thinking if I should get him a Nintendo switch (which I don't know much about), since most of his friends have it. Any suggestion on which is a better platform etc and what I should go with?

2 years ago my boys were 6 and 7, and I went Switch. And they love it. Still do. Games are great for that age. Now that were at 8 and 9...just finally got the PS5. I think there is less kid content on it, but they'll probably get in to more real games in the coming years anyway.

So to be totally unhelpful....you could probably go either way for a 9 year old. Might depend on what he likes.

Switch 2 comes out next year.... I'd wait for that. It's backwards compatible with current games. Rumored to be $399.

Ps6 likely won't come out until 2027.... Due to tarrifs and the price increases on parts who knows what will happen. I think they'll have issues selling a $700-$800 system in a recession.

I would keep what you bought and keep your eye out for a better deal. Last year Target had PS5's in small quantities for $350. It could happen again. You can always return this one if you don't find anything better. This will play Ps4 games which can be found super cheap.
