I wish it were easier to find the drivers for this one. I recently bought one and i didn't see them on their website.

I still need to find the wifi and Bluetooth driver.

Looks like an all-in-one package for Win drivers:

Or, better yet, use Linux

Good stuff, but if I masy add some FYI:

- Chinese market ONLY cpu. Doesn't even come up on AMD (USA) website... Are we stuck with MinisForum Drivers or can we use the newest AMD Adrenalin drivers from AMD?

- Downclocked 200mhz on cpu and 100mhz on 780M compared to the normal version 8845HS.

- All AI features are removed or disabled. Compared to the other 8000 series Ryzens tha HAVE AI. Not a deal breaker. Just an FYI.

Actual Link goes to drivers for the 680 Slim... Not for this Mini PC, unless naming is wrong. 🤷 ♂️

Overkill in some instances. With the caveats another user posted above about this particular chip. But even in this configuration you're going to be able to play AAA games at 30fps (console framerate) or even 60fps-ish (depends on game) if you make some visual sacrifices, depending on the games you play this may or may not matter. This is a pretty subjective topic, everyone has a different threshold for what constitutes "light gaming" however.

I would guess that from a GPU perspective, this system with the downclocks mentioned above probably performs about as well as a 680m, perhaps a little better because of the RAM speeds (mini's use CPU ram as vram, it's shared). If you are a 30fps console gamer you can get most if not all games (except what I call out below) running at PS4/Xbox ONe level graphical settings locked at 30fps at 1080p. I own a 680m equipped AMD system and I've been impressed, but I am not a "60fps minimum or nothing!" gamer.

I would say the only thing a MiniPC isn't doing is anything Unreal Engine 5 based, and I mean like Avatar, Callisto Protocol, etc. Those are going to be...rough. But, for that, there's Oculink and USB4 eGPU's Smilie

Any recommendations for a ssd and memory for this?
thinking of picking this up for a daily browsing, video and Steam gaming.

Also see a UM870 with 32gb/1tb for 447. Can I do better than that with the barebones and parts separately?

I rather pay another $200 and get a m4 apple mini that will run circles around this UM870.
Yes you can, and you'd be locked into the 16GB and 256GB storage for the life of the device, and that may be okay for you.

Storage isn't an issue with external nvme (or if you can find a drive to replace the built in one as its user replaceable though its still proprietary drive). But locked to 16 is sucky but still better than the 8gb for base from the last model. Great value for the price still.

That being said I do like the flexibility of being able to replace whatever I want with a build your own/barebones build (and more options with OS instead of MacOS or Asahi Linux)
