This is very tempting. It's a decent panel but overall not better in quality than my 8-year old Dell 4K 27"…

4k is more future proof

Lol I don't know about that.. Might be the opposite of future proof because I'd constantly have to upgrade the gpu for it to handle new 4k games and stuff.

4K for sure. You see more difference between 4K vs 2K than IPS vs OLED. HDR contents are rare right now, and Windows is bad at managing HDR. Unless you specifically buy it for gaming/FPS gaming. 99% time of normal use 4K is way much better

If money is not a variable in a decision on a monitor or primarily used for gaming/media, then OLED is the way to go. Depending on usage, may affect which panel type you end up getting (monitor longevity). I wanted OLED, but I use my computer more for excel or music DAWs. Static images. May not be ideal in the long run for an OLED on my PC.

I grabbed this Dell monitor and really enjoy it. I'm coming from a 1080p ASUS VG278Q 27" and 2k Pixio PX275C monitor. I got it more for the sRGB color accuracy for photo/video hobby. Tested out Planet Earth and was blown away! Per Rtings, once calibrated, it get's near 100% accuracy. So far no imperfections that I can notice from middle to edge of monitor.

I own a 4k television and can see a difference. At first, I didn't believe in the gimmick of 1080p < 2k < 4k computer monitors until I got a 2k monitor. I noticed how much more excel windows or web windows I could use on 1 screen. So this was my step up to a 4k monitor. To each their own.
I was comparing it between the LG 32GR93U-B, but decided I wanted the pre/post calibration color accuracy rating and text clarity that Rtings.com gave to the Dell monitor. And it wasn't by much. I would have gotten the LG too if there were better buying incentives.

Simply pointing out the panel itself isn't anything exceptional. It isn't bad, but it's quality isn't great either.

I had a 42" LG C2 OLED and the color and black levels were flawless but it's too big for a desk and the PPI was too low. Also the WBGR sub-pixel layout means fine text is fuzzy.

Then I bought a G3223Q and the size is great and it's clear but it doesn't really have any better contrast than my 8-year old 4K panels.

Hoping for a reasonably priced RGB OLED 32-38" panel soon.

It does and with a usb to hdmi converter hack specifically targetting the M1 it can do up to 120Hz even on those.

As great as this monitor is, it does a have a few-seconds-long blanking issue (about once every two weeks) which is annoying and Dell has never addressed.
