Long time lurker. First post.

The deal is back -- at least I got an email about it.
Washington Post .99 every 4 weeks, for 1 year, then $12/mo thereafter. Cancel any time.

Same deal as was on here about 1 year ago.

If you don't like this newspaper, move along. This is a thread for discussing deals for people that want the product.
To put it another way, we don't downvote good mcdonalds deals just b/c we think mcdonalds is unhealthy.

It's 99 cents for 4 weeks - so there are 13 billing cycles a year, not 12. NYT bills in this fashion as well.

It may not be that at all - try not to self-victimize on a deal 😊

For example, I refuse to subscribe because they recently revoked my free government employee subscription.

Sub runs out next April - any way to use this deal to extend the subscription? I can't see a way on the Account page.
TU, OP. I dislike partisan journalism like many commentors here, but the WaPo is still one of the largest news gathering operations in the country. I probably only read ~8 articles a week, but when I do it's worth cutting through the partisan framing to get the story, especially at a heavily discounted price, like this deal. All a y'all's mileage may vary 🙂
Plus they still publish George Will Op Ed's. He's no lefty.

i find it handy to be able to forward a gift article to help set some facts straight in discussions with friends.

we all respect the reporting and it helps to cut through some of the sensationalism we see in social media

You are getting TD because of this.

I would think Trumps landslide win would have shown you how the majority of people feel about leftism.
it's still a good deal for the paper. if you don't like it, move on.

i don't downvote vegas hotel deals because i think gambling is bad

What about chic-fil-a deals?
maybe Dylan Mulvaney doing an ad for them would help.

It's an echo chamber, confirmed by the loss of 2-3 hundred thousand subscribers because the editorial board wasn't allowed to endorse-well{cackle}.
It differs little from Bluesky.

I'm letting my earlier deal expire after Bezos' attack on independent-thought journalism and editors while getting cozy with the new administration. Was a subscriber for years, but Bezos blocking opinions of the editorial board will change how reporters report.

I now turn to the BBC and Canada's CBC and Globe and Mail.

Amazing deal, that's just $12.87/year for one of the leading newspapers in the world.

Despite Jeff Bezos blocking an editorial staff endorsement at short notice, something that no billionaire should be able to do in a democracy, I continue to support the many excellent journalists at this world-leading publication and trust that Bezos will remain hands-off in future.

I took advantage of the same deal last year and cancelled after the final discounted billing when Bezos blocked the endorsement. I didn't think they'd run the same deal again considering they lost so many subscribers. I was able to subscribe again on the same Wapo account. Just make sure you use a different browser / incognito window that has never signed into WaPo before or this offer won't be shown. Once you have the offer displayed on the subscription page, you can enter your existing WaPo account email when you sign up and you'll be good to go for another year. You'll be asked to log into your account after you pay for your first 4 weeks but it's not necessary. The new discounted subscription is already linked to your existing account.

Also, as a bonus point, a monthly $0.99 charge is perfect for those looking to keep their dormant credit card open, or for those who are still building their credit history with a credit builder card. Those products typically want you to put spending on the card every month for them to report it to the credit bureaus.

You get a good deal on WAPO and get to build credit / payment history and keep your credit card account open.
