Not bad at all if you need a decent new phone + plan. Cricket is also rock-solid as far as quality of service is concerned.
I don't know about the activation, but you can just insert your current sim card and it will work.
You can still unlock the phone, just insert your current sim and keep service for 6 months, after that, you can contact Cricket and they will give you the unlock code, I have done it a few times.

Edit: Nvm, got it to work after trying out incognito mode in Opera.
I just purchased this phone. It charged me $99 for the phone plus one month of service at $40, plus a bit of tax, so around $145.
According to the terms of the deal, in order to receive the full credit for the phone we need to pay for two months service, correct? Or we risk having Cricket charge us for the retail price of the phone?
The deal as posted is $220, $100 for the phone and two months service at $60 per month for $220.
For me it looks like it is $100 for the phone and two months of service at $40 per month for a total of $180.
So we need to cancel after we pay for the second month of the service? Is that the catch?
According to their terms, it says we have to pay two months of service at point of sale, but that's not what happened in my transaction....
I don't care about the 6 months unlock....
I will sell my existing S21fe for $100 so this will get me a new phone for $80....pretty slick.
Ends 1/9/2025. Online only. Requires new line. Excludes upgrades and multi-month plans. Pay first two months of $60/mo. plan service ($120 total) at point of sale, plus device taxes. $60 will be applied to first month service charge. Remaining $60 will be credited to your account and applied to second month service unless used on other eligible service or features. Account will remain subscribed to $60/mo. plan for two months. Credit will be lost if service is canceled.
Now if they require the new line auto-activate in 7 days then you lose the service credit paid and would have to try and cancel before the payment for the next month to avoid additional costs. Worth it if you want the phone anyway.
The deal last year was $199 plus service for the S23 FE. So this is better than last year no matter what.
Last time when I did the promotion for a new line, they wouldn't let me downgrade the line until 1 month later.
Awaiting Activation:
"Until activated, this line will not appear on your bill, apply towards group save/multiline discounts, or show high speed data or feature usage."
So it sounds like you can skip activation and eventually they'll cancel the extra line? They'll probably just keep sending messages about activating the new line.
Also, the $40 I paid went towards my bill so instead of it being $100 at the end of the month, the bill is now showing $60.

So I can but the iPhone 13 for $199 and 2 months of service at $120 and then just swap my daughters Sim into the new iPhone 13 on old plan??
Then cancel new plan after 2 months and good to go???
Or...do I just add a 5th line and cancel that at a later time?
In your case (as well as mine, since I added a 6th line for $60 and plan to cancel it), it doesn't say anything about having to pay for the 2nd month. I think that's just for new customers.
This is it..
