You need to keep Cricket service for 6 consecutive months, then Cricket will unlock it

For anyone who wants it actually unlocked at some point, it will cost you $100 + $120 + $120, which includes 6 months of cricket service. Two months of unlimited and four months of the $30 5gb plan.

Not bad at all if you need a decent new phone + plan. Cricket is also rock-solid as far as quality of service is concerned.

If you are on Cricket already, you can get it cheaper, because they only require 1 month when adding a new line.
I don't know about the activation, but you can just insert your current sim card and it will work.
You can still unlock the phone, just insert your current sim and keep service for 6 months, after that, you can contact Cricket and they will give you the unlock code, I have done it a few times.

I have 4 lines currently. If I add a 5th line and will the line drop off after so many days if I don't activate the sim? I just don't want my other lines canceled if I don't activate the sim.

Is this deal dead? I can't get past clicking checkout as the status circle keeps spinning.

Edit: Nvm, got it to work after trying out incognito mode in Opera.

I currently have 4 lines with Cricket and plan on staying with them.
I just purchased this phone. It charged me $99 for the phone plus one month of service at $40, plus a bit of tax, so around $145.
According to the terms of the deal, in order to receive the full credit for the phone we need to pay for two months service, correct? Or we risk having Cricket charge us for the retail price of the phone?
The deal as posted is $220, $100 for the phone and two months service at $60 per month for $220.
For me it looks like it is $100 for the phone and two months of service at $40 per month for a total of $180.
So we need to cancel after we pay for the second month of the service? Is that the catch?
According to their terms, it says we have to pay two months of service at point of sale, but that's not what happened in my transaction....

I don't care about the 6 months unlock....
I will sell my existing S21fe for $100 so this will get me a new phone for $80....pretty slick.
Ends 1/9/2025. Online only. Requires new line. Excludes upgrades and multi-month plans. Pay first two months of $60/mo. plan service ($120 total) at point of sale, plus device taxes. $60 will be applied to first month service charge. Remaining $60 will be credited to your account and applied to second month service unless used on other eligible service or features. Account will remain subscribed to $60/mo. plan for two months. Credit will be lost if service is canceled.

Does this mean we can add a new number with 1 month plan and then cancel the line after the month is over and still unlock the phone in 6mo by using our old simcard? Do I have to activate the phone with the new number or can I just put my old simcard straight into the new phone?
You will be able to unlock this phone with your old sim card ( after 6 months) Its up to you how to activate your new sim card - with new phone or your old phone. Just make sure that you cancel this new line before 1 month is over.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out for existing customers. You used to be able to not activate the new line (use phone with existing sim) and it would fall off after one month and you'd keep the service credit on your existing account. Last time I did this year ago the new line didn't activate but it also didn't fall off the account. I had to contact CS to cancel the line which they did.

Now if they require the new line auto-activate in 7 days then you lose the service credit paid and would have to try and cancel before the payment for the next month to avoid additional costs. Worth it if you want the phone anyway.

The deal last year was $199 plus service for the S23 FE. So this is better than last year no matter what.

Thanks, can you let us know back here how it went after you have done this? Would you still be charged for 1 month ($25 or $40 or $60) for the 5th line before they will allow you to drop that line?
Last time when I did the promotion for a new line, they wouldn't let me downgrade the line until 1 month later.
I was finally able to access my cricket account on the app and got a message at the top saying

Awaiting Activation:

"Until activated, this line will not appear on your bill, apply towards group save/multiline discounts, or show high speed data or feature usage."

So it sounds like you can skip activation and eventually they'll cancel the extra line? They'll probably just keep sending messages about activating the new line.

Also, the $40 I paid went towards my bill so instead of it being $100 at the end of the month, the bill is now showing $60.

Ok. Got a question for anyone who can help. Looking to upgrade daughter's phone to iPhone 13 and wondered about this promo. Currently on 4/100 plan.
So I can but the iPhone 13 for $199 and 2 months of service at $120 and then just swap my daughters Sim into the new iPhone 13 on old plan??
Then cancel new plan after 2 months and good to go???
Or...do I just add a 5th line and cancel that at a later time?

if I only use the 60days without renewing the plan, but uses it later under Cricket for total 6 months, will it still be unlocked or it has to be consecutive 6 months without interrupt? Thanks

From what I've gathered after reading this comment: The phrasing of the deal, as well as the "terms and restrictions" on the phone page is different for "New" and "Existing" customer types.
In your case (as well as mine, since I added a 6th line for $60 and plan to cancel it), it doesn't say anything about having to pay for the 2nd month. I think that's just for new customers.

Where do you see this? For the existing customers - "Must activate new line with min. $60/mo. voice plan. First mo. svc charge & tax due at sale."
This is it..

Someone mentioned the new sim will auto activate after 7 days? Is yours already passed 7 days? And you already inserted the old sim to the new phone? About to do the same and love to see the $40 first month service fee back to the account as credit like yours. Hope they won't charge the full phone retail at the end due to the new sim isn't activated...

I have not received the phone, delivery expected tomorrow. I haven't seen anything about auto activate in the terms.
