Wow, that is pretty good price.

I been using their first generation device before they changed to Telo and paid nothing for years, save me thousands dollars already.

Explain how you "pay nothing"? There's always monthly taxes & fees I thought even with the "$0" basic plan

Basic is advertised as $0 but there are taxes/fees

for me, those add up to $7.49/mo but varies by location
If you want premium it's $10 + taxes and fees

No, when they initially launched the service it was completely free after paying the initial fee for the device. I'm still using that and as the other user mentioned it has paid off and then some.

First generation is OOMA Hub, it cost nothing beside the device. When they upgrade to OOMA Telo, they start to charge taxes and extra. If my OOMA Hub die and upgrade to Telo, I need to pay taxes too. I already purchased Telo as a backup just in case my Hub die, otherwise I will buy this.

Yes. I have same deal. But that ooma is not wireless and I have to plug in a cordless phone.

Taxes and fees are based on your locality and area code selected. Some localities charge extra fees and taxes (e.g. to pay for low income telephony service, higher taxes, etc.).

If you're not picky about your area code, you can choose one with lower fees.

I bought my Ooma Hub with two Scouts for about $50 back in '09. I set it up in NJ, took it with me to FL for winters and now use it in DE. I never paid anything other than the $50 initial cost. This is old news I know, but over the years I have been very pleased with the Ooma. I did set up a Google Voice and Obihai for friends, but now I think that will stop working soon.

I had the Ooma Telo and used to use it long ago. I used to pay around $4 in taxes. But then Google Voice came about and it was completely free. So I stopped the Ooma and started using Google with an Obi modem . Now that Google Voice landline use is dead, I'll start Ooma again. Luckily I didn't throw away the Ooma modem. I've shifted states since so not sure what my taxes will be but not thrilled about having to pay again. That being said, Obi was not too reliable. We hardly used the landline and sometimes when you picked up the unit to dial you would realize it's dead. I had to log in to reset it. Calling in back home I wasn't ever sure if the line was ringing in the other end. Of course, it might have been lack of use on my end which cause the account to log off. It was a free service so I never bothered. Hopefully Ooma will be more reliable now that I'll be paying taxes etc.

Not accurate. I have OOMA original hub and I have been paying ~$7 per month for years.

You are too late for the game, they don't charge anything, not even tax when they first released. There are tons of users on Slickdeals took advantage of that and still pay nothing.

I have ooma since Feb 2011. When did they start charging taxes and fees?

Wow, you really just missed it by a month or two, I have it since September 2010 and still pay nothing.

I only remember they start charging tax not long ago after I activate my OOMA hub.
