To provide a counterpoint, I've had a sapphire nitro+ since August 2023, and mine has been flawless. No issues with adrenaline at all. Two random posts on the internet for anecdotal evidence, take them for what you will, lol.
This is the top-end AMD card. If you want the best AMD GPU this is it, and this price is the lowest it's been. GRE is a great card but technically it's two models down from this, falling just under the regular 7900 XT.
If you don't need the Nvidia specific gpu advantages and just want to play games at big frame rates at high graphic settings, this is the best bang for your buck. PowerColor makes quality GPUs.

Really tempted but at this point I feel like I'm better off waiting for the 8000 series that's supposedly coming in a few months.

Ugh... I purchased the Sapphire Nitro+ 7900 Xtx yesterday from Newegg for $930 (now sold out). Any input on whether I should cancel that and get this one instead and save some money? The Nitro+ is supposedly the top-of-the-line model in the 7900 XTX lineup.

7900XTX owner here (XFX 7900XTX Merc 310) since May 2024. Most of my cards have been NVIDIA over the years. Switched to AMD this gen. The XTX has been running great driver-wise in my experience. I'm quite happy with it! Sample size of one 😊

Can u pls tell me what advantages a similarly Nvidia GPU would have. I know Nvidia has some technology where it increases the frame rates.
I have been out of the GPU game for a while.

Both Nvidia and AMD have features that increase frame rates. Both are recommended at 4K, and sometimes maybe at 2K. Using them at 1080p resolution is a no-no because the picture quality suffers drastically from them.
  • Upscaling, where the visuals are rendered at lower resolutions and then upscaled to the desired resolution, which allows the GPU to generate more frames because their quality is lower. Nvidia has DLSS, and AMD has FSR. DLSS provides better picture quality, but at 4K it's not immediately evident, unless you run a forensic frame-by-frame analysis by zooming in 200% and/or freezing the frames. Intel also has XeSS, which appears to be in the middle quality wise. Both FSR and XeSS are brand agnostic, while DLSS works only on Nvidia GPUs.
  • Frame generation, which both brands offer. I don't know which one is better. At this performance level, I don't think you even need frame gen. This feature increases latency.

Here are two comparison of the three upscaling techniques:

Nvidia GPUs have advantages when it comes to some AI applications because they have dedicated chips for this use case. I don't know much about it, though.

I've been sitting on mine from Amazon to see if there was a better deal after Christmas. Hearing the issues and rather not deal with the hassle...I'll return it before the 31st
