Anyone know the difference between this model and the MF654Cdw for $249 and Best Buy?

EDIT: i think the 656 has single pass duplex scanning and fax. 655 has single pass duplex. 654 has neither.

I have this for a year. Nothing but problems. Continuously disconnects from WiFi even with dedicated IP from router. Also only takes only Canon cartridges only otherwise you will have print issues & need to clean it frequently.

The 54 series cartridges were likely the last Canon with good generic cartridges. 055 is semi ok. My guess is they designed it to be problematic in some way.

I have a MF644cdw (previous gen) from 2019. I also ran into problems with third party toner. Black text fine but as soon as I start trying to do color images of any kind it is unusable. I'm actually looking for a printers that have decent affordable/third party toner options if anybody has any recommendations.

I've been using this model as my primary office printer for over a year. Performance has been great and I highly recommend the 656. I just replaced my black toner, which is the first replacement from the toners that shipped with the printer. My only issue has been that, once the toner dropped below 10%, I could not print and had to replace.
