Love my Travel Pak 3 but I'm starting to give up on this company. Not a nice attitude (SF after all), stagnant design, refuse to take customer feedback. Some of their pockets are useless (e.g., deep and narrow), and their buckles are regressive snaps without quickly adjustable features eclipsed by Peak Design and many others. And the X-Pac screaming orange price markup option for every single product is tedious/redundant.

Not affiliated at all. but if you're looking into bag research, this youtube channel isn't bad. And they do have some reviews for Aer products.

I've had my eye on Aer personally.. but i find them a bit expensive

Since its Slickdeals and if you look up the other Aer sale threads, some of the Aer products show up on Aliexpress at good discounts (search X-pac or xpac), I have the Fit Pack 3 X-Pac from Aer directly and gambled on the Day Sling 3 Max X-Pac from Aliexpress and it appeared to be legit Aer (branding and all). Just another option to consider. I personally don't mind Aer stuff as I do like the Orange insides with Xpac, I have original Peak Design backpack, but the Fit pack 3 fits better for my current needs, seems to be quality brand, but not sure if I would pay full retail.
EDIT: SEE below/replies for expanded discussion about that the Aliexpress versions may/probably are counterfeits and not just overruns, TIL

I can confirm that they are fakes, but very good fakes with superb bang for the buck.

Competition is good and peak design is definitely experimenting with wider range of lines, but the only point I would make is the Xpac is different material "sail cloth" and is supposedly more water-resistant, hence why I think the markup is probably justified because its presumably more expensive than Cordura

I was about to ask about the proof, but then went down the rabbit hole (google "aer aliexpress reddit") and yes it does appear there are fakes
, so take the Aliexpress bags as YMMV. I will take a closer look at my day sling when I get home. For whats its worth, I took the Aliexpress bag on a trip and it performed pretty well and you're definitely right about the bang for buck prospect from aliexpress, I thought Aer would be too niche to counterfeit, but guess not!
EDIT: Yep, I think mine is counterfeit, little details not adding up (Label a little less precise, mesh a little more see thru), so YMMV

Carry the day sling 3 with me every day, fantastic quality and build. I'd buy it again with no hesitation at 20% off, and they rarely hold sales on it too FYI.
