I bought one and it just got delivered a little while ago. Set it up but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Just figured I'd pass on a few pieces of info.

First, definitely not a rebadge of last year and definitely no Atmos, which honestly is no big deal IMO. DTS Virtual X is very similar in what it does in post-processing and creating a "sound bubble".

Secondly, the design is really nice on all the components, as would be expected. I do want to note that the soundbar itself is, by far, the lightest bar I've ever picked up. It almost felt like there was nothing in there. It's cloth covered (and so are the rear speakers) rather than the metal grilles from last year.

Thirdly, the speakers do hook up differently than last year's Atmos model. Those were wireless (and many of us had issues with hissing sounds when the volume was low or even when the main unit was off). These plug into the subwoofer like most of the past Vizio models. For me, I prefer having the sub in the back of the room by my listening position anyway. They give you an amazing amount of speaker cable for each.

I do want to note that there are eight speakers total. Three drivers in the bar along with two tweeters, the two surrounds and the sub. This does have Dolby Digital Plus, which is an enhanced, upgraded version of standard 5.1 Digital and what most streaming services use for their audio encoding (Atmos can be delivered via DDP), so combined with the DTS processing, this hopefully should do well with the 3D effects.

One thing this system does have that last year's didn't (at least to my recollection) is Hisense's Pure and Pro Surround settings. Pure delivers the 5.1 sound as originally intended from the source you're playing. Pro creates a "virtual" surround for those that want all the sounds coming out of the speakers at all times, like dialogue. I've always found those kinds of settings completely distracting. I want to hear true surround, not hearing someone speaking out of all five channels at once. That kind of defeats the whole purpose of surround, but some people mistakenly believe sound should be blaring out of their rear speakers at all times, so I guess this is good for them. I wouldn't suggest it myself.

I'll follow up once I've had a chance to listen. This is obviously a Walmart specific model for the holidays. There is zero info about it even on Hisense's website.

I have had a number of Atmos bars, both with and without up firing drivers, and I concur with another poster who said that they never got good results with them. My ceilings are the ideal height and, even after playing around with settings, none ever knocked my socks off. What they were always good for was the object-based audio. Sometimes sounds seemed to be coming from a totally different part of the room, but height effects? Not so much. I've always found that DTS Virtual X worked just as well for that. YMMV

Thanks for the suggestion. Found a reddit review of the HS 5100 that mentioned that you CAN adjust the volume settings of the rear speakers by holding down the surround button on the remote for 5 seconds. Tested it on this model and it does give you the option to adjust that. Suggested setting is +3.

I bought this and hooked it up.
Rear speakers and sub are barely audible .
I will be returning mine.
This is definitely not as good as the Hisense AX Series 5.1.2 Ch 420W Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, Wireless Rear Speakers, and Dolby Atmos that was 129.00 which I have had for a year with no problems.

I've had these for about 9 months and I find the sound quality quite acceptable. it was a little tricky setting it up but I decided to use the HDMI return connection and it's been all good since then. I appreciate the wired rear speakers because in my neighborhood, the 2.4Ghz band is saturated with all sorts of devices and I'd rather not add two more devices that need low latency to the 2.4Ghz mix.

For those audiophiles complaining that their $2,000 9.1 receiver and (10) speakers at $1,200 each do a better job, you would be right. But for $89 you get a simple to use system with decent sound. If you are longing for the higher end sound go pay the $10,000 for the sound you would rather have. (I have a much better system in my basement but these are unobtrusive and sound acceptable in my upstairs living room. i play 5.1 music over YouTube from the channel "Methuselah's Grandpa" )

I bought this and set it up. I have, what I think is very good hearing, but this is more or less my first foray into surround sound, previously just had an ancient 2.1 Samsung soundbar; as such I have nothing to compare it to. It is definitely a huge step up over the TV speakers and the prior 2.1 soundbar. The soundbar and its three speakers sound very good and clear; I seriously question the effectiveness of the sub and the rear speakers.
I also just ordered the Vizio Elevate SE last night to try out. $400 on Amazon with another 20% off on Prime card, so about $320+tax. Obviously it is more than three times as expensive. Curious as to people's thought on the Elevate SE? I see a lot of reviews on just the Elevate but not the SE model.

Got mine yesterday, hooked up in 10 mins, plug and play (to a Frame TV). Very compact and hides itself well. As long as you manage expectations relative to the price point, you will see that this is a great deal. It's way better than any TV speaker. Works well at medium to high-ish volume, but certainly has distortion if you blast your music. The surround sound is good, but this is also dependent on your video source. I tested mine with Dolby videos on Youtube, and it meets my expectations; video games are also satisfactory. For cinematic experience, I have a Dolby Atmos setup with dedicated speakers and receivers in the home theatre, it's way better, but also 55.5x the price and also too big.

Again, the key here is to manage expectations. It's not a $500-1K sound bar, but it competes well in its space. So give it a try to see if it works out for your usecase.

The soundbar is surprisingly very light weight ...

Also the rear speakers need to be hard-wired to the subwoofer, anyone know how to wire them up without turning the setup into a trip hazard ?

I honestly doubt it's pushing that 510w at all. If you're buying this for a bedroom or small living room, it might sound good. I'm buying one for my bathroom so I can finally get rid of the Google home speakers. A surround sound setup for less than the price of 2 Google home, echo or good Bluetooth speakers.
I put some sound traps in my bathroom. Best sounding house bathroom I've been in without buying new speakers. No more echo an hollowness.

Acoustic panels are in every music studio. Most YouTubers add them as well; that's those foam square panels they either have behind them; an if they know what they are doing; in front of them. They are (generally) 1ftx1ft foam squares designed to absorb sound. This can stop echo, or trap bass to prevent reverberation, or otherwise alter the sound of a room. A room has a lot to do with sound you hear or perceive.

You know how you use the phone in the bathroom an everyone asks if you are in the bathroom? That's due to the acoostics of the room; mainly you get a ton of echo. Adding a few small squares of this in assorted head level places in my bathroom completely canceled the echo.

Ive not tested it but Im pretty sure I can make calls in here an no one would know. I know when I brought my boombox in an was singing in the shower last ; it sounded close to as normal as every other room an didn't have the echo. Upgrading my crappy bt speaker would help too; but It sounds worlds better just talking in here with them.

Google them to find out more. But basically you try to put them at head level to absorb an diffuse sound. I couldn't place the 2 in the shower at head level because water; but placing them above the line of the showerhead seemed to work somewhat good. An then I placed some around the mirror an behind where I stand in front of the mirrors, an one in front of the toilet.

This is my first time an ive never heard anyone trying it in a bathroom, so there may be better placements. An often people place a lot of them where they need to be an i only had 6 blue an i dont want my whole bathroom covered in them. I have shelves, lights, mirrors, decorations, towel racks, mounted on much the walls anyways

First foray into a 5.1 system, I think it sounds pretty good. Does anyone have any EQ, bass, treble settings they want to share to get the most out of these speakers? TIA!

If you had max bass and surround on, but only tried it with the soundbar itself, you shouldn't be surprised that it sounded "weak and flat". The whole point is to use the sub and the surrounds. The bar itself is not going to sound full, just like most bars that are part of a 5.1 setup. You're going to get zero bass and certainly no surround effect without having the entire thing set up.

I ended up returning this soundbar set. Woofer kept bottoming often and it was quite noticeable so much so that my attention kept going there rather than enjoying the content. I tried lot of the settings mentioned in this thread by others but it didn't change much. Maybe I am so used to with listening sound on my samsung 990c. Satellite speakers aren't that great either. Sound bar itself is decent, and if you are only looking to use the soundbar then it's okay but will miss the surround effect drastically. Picked up vizio elevate from target with 20% red circle coupon on the account (YMMV)
I'm getting distracted by the sub too. It's almost a periodic popping sound, like it's trying to hit a note but it's too tired. So distracting and I'm wishing I kept the box so I could return it.

This is my first 5.1 soundbar coming from a vizio 2.0. I have it in my bedroom with the rear speakers on my side tables. For me, this makes a big improvement from my previous setup. Dialogue is clear, bass is better and the surrounds make a big difference. I am using the EQ settings for the AX5125H from Rtings. I have virtual surround off so it only plays surround with a 5.1 broadcast.
