T-mobile has a hidden plan for 30GB data a month data plan (you get your own sim and need your own device).

I got a cellular modem for $40: https://www.netgear.com/home/mobile-wifi/lte-modems/lm1200/ [netgear.com] and was able to use it with T-mobile's provided sim card.

Call in or use their online chat to inquire about the "Basic Mobile Internet 30GB plan (SOC: MI30TE or MI30TI)". It is $15/mo but you get a $5/mo discount by using autopay.

If you can't repro then you suck. This also provides you with a phone number for the data account and you get access to t-mobile tuesdays despite it only being a data plan Smilie

am not getting the plan when clicking on the link...also not able to find T-mobile's chat-bot in contact-us...
can someone point me to correct path...I am looking to get this plan for my tablet.
Also, do I need a regular T-mobile line in addition of this plan to get this plan?

If youre in thr San Francisco region. 1600 El Camino does not have a tmobile rep. South airport blvd does. The rep was able to find the plan and the bogo deal but needed assistsncr from a manager on the phone.

also, after thr transactiom, the rep will dirrct you to a promotions site to claim your 25 dollar costco gift card for each line. takes 3 to 4 weeks to process.

did this yesterday, may need to refer the rep to their manager if they cant find it. tell them to search for the code.
Thanks for this heads up. I was able to stop by the Costco sfo location and got the same deal. The tmobile chat rep online didn't offer any promos nor waiving the activation fees nor any bonus rebates. Truly an amazing deal I wouldn't have known about without slickdeals. Was in and out in about 20 minutes. Just had to give the rep the SOC code and they found it with zero issues.

Anyway for a new customer to add a cheap voice line (even if it's just with a lower amount of data) to this to make it even slicker?

I need an additional voice line and would love to keep everything on one bill.

I'd suggest calling or going to your local Costco with a T-mobile rep and seeing if it's a BOGO 50% off for existing customers but it seems like everyone getting that deal are new customers. If you're on a tax excluded plan, it's not too slick, my friend added one on his tax excluded line and it's around $13/month after taxes and autopay. Nearly twice as much as the Costco deal.

thanks for your reply...
not cat, but maybe dog videos... 🤣
I don't need 30Gb plan as such... but this seems to be the cheapest possible ...i use my tablet (5g capable) in car.. for continuous songs and maps and hotspot for family... don't want to use my phone as hotspot... don't want to buy a hotspot/router as it will be redandant for me.

if this works with t-mobile SYNC drive, use it as it does hotspot and plugs to OBD port for power and car diagnosis.

I'm thinking about getting this for someone as they don't really use internet that much. They already have a post paid wireless plan with T-Mobile. Any good hotspot device to buy besides those on their web site? How is this different from the home internet plans?
this was posted earlier, its $40 bucks and is perfect, you get the sim(from t-mobile), insert the sim into this 'modem', plug in the modem to the wall AC, and into the back of your home router and you got a 30gb/mth WIFI connection. I've had it now for a few mths and its super reliable. I get like 40-50 mb download speeds.

I signed up for byod hotspot plan by calling, rep said he cannot sign me up for $25 gift card as it is eligible for $20 and above plans. He tried to sell me hotspot, phone and airpods and another sim but I needed only 1 sim.I declined everything. Is there any way to get $25 gift card? I cannot create online account with the account number or phone number.

I would be all over this as travel and home backup internet but ever since I switched to Fiber from cable, I've had zero down time in two years!

I should addd this.
If you bought the Netgear modem from B& H for $29
By the external antennas for $18.
I went from speed of 1 to speed of 9 down by adding two cheap antennas
Went from unusable to working great.

Amazingly stupid question (and I did try searching this lengthy thread first):

For those who have this WITHOUT another T-Mo line .. and have an order # and account # - how do you create a login with the T-Mobile website? Tele Sales and Customer Care have both not been able to give me the phone # associated with the account.

That said, I haven't gotten the SIM yet and put it in a hotspot to try it. That's a next week thing. So perhaps I wait for that and see if I can get it out of the hotspot directly?
