Dirac Live's Black Friday sale has gone live and they have 20% off everything. This does not beat some of their historical Black Friday sales, but it provides a discount that you otherwise wouldn't get if you're in the market to upgrade your sound system's room correction!

I have to agree with shaddai. I was planning to buy it for my x4800h -- I've been waiting for months. Seeing that the discount for the already overpriced addon is only 20%, I will just stick with Audyssey.
Maybe if they come back with the 30% I'll bite.

It was 30% off last year. A spit in the face, especially when Dirac users have been unpaid beta testers!
20% of the new full-extra price is better than 30% of the old one. So, no spit on the face. Sure, I'd like a 30%, but honestly, I wasn't even sure they'd have a discount after the new price policy change a few months back.
Is the license bound to a specific model? I'm deciding between the x4800, Cinema 40 and the Yamaha a6a / a8a (possibly the pioneer 805...) currently and would consider pre-purchasing this at a discount if possible.

I think it is
But honestly cant say I have heard anyone with the same scenario
I know there are some AVS forum members that have sold their equipment, and they let the license ( typically DLBC) go with the product to the new owner
By the way, if that Pioneer 805 is on your short list you might need to make a decision quickly
Best Buy shows sold out and I have seen another e-tailer with " discontinued" for the product on their website

Yes, the Dirac license it is tied to a specific unit and can not be transferred.

Highly depends on if you're coming from Denon/Marantz AVR or Onkyo/Integra/Pioneer 805.
Why? If you're coming from a Denon/Marantz unit, you have to pay for the basic DL license (either FB or LB) before you can even get think about DLBC! I understand the narrative that the price was lowered but it was only lowered for DLBC and not the basic DL license! Consider the following for a Denon 3800:
Black Friday 2023:
DLFB - $327.32 - $98.20 (30%) = $229.12 (what I paid before tax last year)
Black Friday 2024:
DLFB - $327.32- $69.80 (20%) = $261.86 (again, before tax)
For me, if I had opted for the single DLBC/DLFB bundle last year at the 30% off, I still come out ahead compared to this year (I have no use for multi-SW DLBC so the undiscounted price remains the same for DLBC this year for me)!
The best deal is for Onkyo/Integra/Pioneer owners who have a multi-SW system that would have otherwise paid for a higher starting license fee last year!

If Dirac is important to you and you have no more than 2 SWs, then getting the 805 is the no-brainer choice over the 4800!
If you have more than 2 SWs, this is where the 4800 shines and the possibility of getting ART by Fall 2025 (last I heard). Very little chance that the 805 gets ART, especially since the 505 is not DLBC eligible, and the Pioneer license was pulled from PAC.

I was wondering what type of discount they were going to do with the DLBC price change also.
If you held out and wanted the bundle, good move it's less expensive than previous years.
Personally DLBC is the main reason to switch to Dirac over Audyssey.
A1EVO tossed this comparison on its head.
Having used both(own the bundle) the difference is so minor Dirac isn't worth the cost anymore imo.
I give Dirac the slight edge and again mainly because of DLBC.
Owning the bundle & having used A1EVO several times now.
The difference is pretty minor & not worth the cost imo.
Especially on the latest D/M models that have the option.
They have Audyssey's new directional sub setting. Works under the same theory as DLBC/ART and others.
Now that Dirac is offered at these mid level AVRs and if you always wanted Dirac.
$480 for the bundle is very well worth it imo.

Having experience with all those AVRs.
If you have no brand preference, will rely on internal power only and want/need Dirac, the LX805 for $1499 is hard to beat.
The sale is back BTW.

Thanks -- I've got no brand preference, an M7100X power amp and wouldn't mind Dirac but definitely don't 'need' it. Running 3.2 at the moment with intent to expand to 7.2. Probably 50/50 music/movies mix.

I was also hoping that they would provide 30% off again this year, but I'm still happy I don't have to pay the full price.
