When I follow the link, Amazon shows the list price as $900. That's what I was basing my statement off of. You are weirdly aggressive about your computer deals.

Damn such a wonderful machine ruined by the 16gb of ram. What's even the point of putting a Core Ultra 9 in there then?

FYI, the list price is only $900 (to anybody that sees the $1700 and thinks "what an amazing deal")

At the list price of $1,700 or even a more realistic price of $1,100 I would agree.

At $765 I think of it more along the lines of "Wow, they put a Core Ultra 9 in this machine? That's a lot for this price".

Check this on Asus' official site as well as other vendors such as Best Buy or Newegg. The list price is definitely not $900.Also, this is a great deal. You'd know if you were aware about laptops and specs to price ratio.

I think that's fair, but the point is more - why wouldn't they spring to spend what, $35 more to make 32GB ram standard. (Which would also probably let them tack on way more than $35 to the price)

What's the difference between this and https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/1027110

From what I can see is it worth the 65$ difference for Core Ultra 9 vs 7? Specs seem same besides the cores, touchscreen and the Zenbook premium feel vs Vivobook

Yes, but apart from the processor, another important difference is that this has a non-touch display whereas the ZenBook has a touch display.
This also has an SD card reader and an extra USB 3.2 Type A port.

does this laptop come with fingerprint sensor?
I searched around but cannot see it mentioned anywhere, so I presume no fingerprint sensor?

I am just looking for a light weight laptop to take on planes and trips. I mostly do python scripts, spreadsheets, email and browsing. (As long as I don't have 40 tabs open).

I would presume this would work out well?

BugDig with 15.6" & Ultra 7 155H for $849 vs. Amazon with 14" & Core Ultra 9 185H for $764. Unless you care a lot of the screen size difference, I'd suggest 14" & Core Ultra 9 for $764.
