Definitely not in the same class as B&H.
It means they're in the "They Stink as a Seller League." 6th Ave has a terrible reputation.

B&H and Adorama are factory authorized resellers with stellar reputations. They don't employ bait and switch tactics. They don't pull items like batteries and chargers out of the camera box, and then sell them to you separately. They sell product with full US warranty. When I want to buy a high speed memory card that these types of cameras use, I only buy from B&H or Adorama, not even Amazon, because there are so many counterfeit memory cards, and that's not good in a high performance camera.

I've never purchased from 6th Ave Electronics. Does anyone have experience with them? Should I just wait for a similar Black Friday deal from a better known retailer?

It's obviously an international import without Sony warranty. However the seller is in business for years and it offers warranty of 1 year parts and 90 days of labor. From my experiences, camera body rarely has issues so the saving is good.

They sell gray market stuff so repairs are not covered by manufacturer warranty in US. I purchased at least one camera and a few lens from them - never had any issues.

They're the same crop of NYC camera stores as the B&H and Adorama, that have been around forever. As far as buying grey imports, I remember years ago there were some issues with the video because of the PAL/NTSC format stuff.

Is this still an issue? I have no idea, but the store itself is legit.

Agreed. Not anywhere near the level of B&H. I have purchased from 6th Ave Electronics in the past, without issue, however.
As for grey market cameras, if purchased from solid retailers, they can be a good way to save money. I once had a grey market camera issue, though, and it had nothing to do with the retailer. After years of use (and a bit of abuse), the camera's sensor had dust spots of the sort I could not remove myself, so I sent it to a professional repair shop. The shop was able to clean the sensor, but somewhere along the line the camera was fully reset. When I received it, I turned it on to find that ALL the menus and on-screen text were in Japanese, and it took some doing to switch it back to English.

I bought an A7R5 last year in Sony's Tokyo flagship store, made certain worldwide warranty was given. The only slightly annoying thing is that every time the camera is turned on, there's a message on the screen making me aware that I'm about to film in NTSC instead of the native PAL which is correct according to my settings preferences. I wish that message simply wouldn't come up because I have to confirm it with the push of a button. But it's a nuisance and could be fixed by Sony via software update.

They are not nearly in the same league as B&H and Adorama.

Folks, is the Alpha 7 IV worth the price difference over the A6700 for photography (I might record a short video here and there, but very casually)? Per rtings, the main and only difference is full frame vs the other type. I was hoping somebody who had experience with both would provide some insight into the "practical" differences.

I purchased a lens from them before I believe. Was a while ago. Never had any issues.

Anyone remember J&R? It used to be bigger than B&H

I've purchased from them before and had good luck thus far. It's an incredible camera and that's a great price. IMO, possibly the best cost to quality ratio out there right now.
