At this price, my only knock against the one I have is that the throat plate that came with it flexes too much as pieces get narrow. Not a problem for wide boards, but if you're ripping 1x4s in half you'll want to be aware of this. However, I think they updated and reinforced the design of the plate recently to help with that.
If you're talking about cutting an 4x8' long panel to 5' long then no, a table saw is not the best tool unless you have a very larger support table surrounding it. A circular saw or track saw would be better.
