why would you want a 1bay nas if you can't actively have data redundancy as you can with a 2 bay nas? I know my reasons (even thought I got an offer and bought one 2 bay nas) to start a media server and watch my collection of movies and tv shows at hoem on every device or outside my home while traveling. Sadly I found out the hard way (after purchasing one of these devices) they aint good at all for that. They struggle to decode any movie past 1080p the procesors itself are not powerful enough, and the system uses most of this 1gb ram for its backgorund apps. I ended up buying a cheap dell optiplex for almost the same amount and have it as a wake on lan machine where I can trully have my media server running. I still plan to get a second hard drive for the nass and have it as my file server or fiel storage
