This looks like a decent deal for a non-current-gaming PC. My 10yo son wants to try video editing for YT. Would this be able to handle that well?

I'd recommend the m4 mac mini with the student discount for $500 instead. Most YouTubers use macos for video editing, and the mac is much more powerful and future proof.

A 550W power supply is more than sufficient, and it even leaves room for future upgrades.

No ones going to put a 5070 in this PC though. A 4060 or 5060 sure. Which the existing power supply can handle.

I wouldn't be sure of that. This cpu is way overkill for a 4060, could pair it with a 4080 and still not be bottlenecked by it. If upgrading is on the table for someone this psu leaves very little wiggle room

Which is .. 3 generations ahead of this ? So, plenty of room on 550W to upgrade before needing 5070 or performance level

It's a 5500 with an integrated GPU right, the 5600G? It will bottleneck a 4080 even just versus a 5600x. Going up to something like a 9800x3D would be a 25% performance increase (with the 40800)

I'm talking about the 5700x3d, though it is a moot point. The price isn't great on these, almost every prebuilt I've seen on here has a 4060, like they're trying to clear inventory. If you want a better GPU you should just build your own or look elsewhere

I dont really agree. I think you are just comparing what bottle necks something and thinking thats the main thing.

Both this CPU and 4060 cards are lower mid level. This processor is nothing special, fast, premium or anything. I would consider the 4070 or 5070 a step up above, more compared to a i7 or higher Ryzen chip.
