I tried to order this with an existing account and it doesn't work, have to port in number from another supported carrier.

You're overthinking it, says it's the Visible+ Annual plan which is $395/year taxes and fees included so you're basically getting the iPhone 13 for free.

Straight talk $245 is much better.
The difference is 11 months service for $150. Not worth it.

Port in required. Add to the title if that's the case. That's what I'm seeing.
Correct, port-in is required.

Not in this case. Visible plus plan is regularly $35/month. When you take this deal, you pay roughly $28 per month for the same thing for a year upfront. That's all have to come out of your pocket. Apart from the sim service you receive , you are getting an iPhone 13 as a treat. In short, you pay less for the service and pay nothing for the device.
You have just perfectly illustrated the whole point of the NY Times article titled "Those Promotions promising a free iphone? It isn't free" that I linked to. I am pretty sure every person who takes part in a promotion for a "free iphone" will explain to you why the promotion they got is a great deal, just like you are trying to convince yourself here. It reminds me of almost every person who goes into a car dealer and comes out bragging to all their friends how they got such a great deal and they really took it to the dealer and got such a great price. Of course, the dealer who does this for a living every day of the day is laughing at every one of these people who think they got a great deal.

In this case, you are paying for a full year phone of service, in which case it defeats the whole point of prepaid service. In fact, paying in advance for a full year of prepaid is worse than postpaid service. And especially with a company like Visible, whose 1.5 star rating on trustpilot is one of the worst ratings of any MVNO out there. Compare that with US Mobile which has a rating of 4.5 Stars. Yes, they both use Verizon lines, but not all Verizon lines are the same.

I'm not saying this might not be a useful deal for some people, but there is no "free iphone" here.

Anyone else get charged for the full amount of the phone plus tax? Even though at the end it was the $395. Luckily my cc declined it.

It could just be an outdated list but it still looks to have work as I already got the email that the number has been ported over to Visible and will be ready to go when the phone arrives.

The site said $465 but the authorization was for $395. Visible typically doesn't finalize the charge until you activate though so I'm assuming it'll change then.

While I see your point, I don't think it applies to people who are already subscribed to a similar phone service. I am one of those. And it just so happens I am also looking for a new phone to retire my iPhone 8 and leave my current MVNO. I am willing to continue to pay the same or less $$$ for the annual service, so this deal makes the phone free for me.
