For some reason, this took a little bit of work. I've had two previous accounts that I've been canceled, but I wouldn't give me the offer so I had to use an alternate email address and alternate credit card as well to get the offer to work.

The CEO just let slip on an earnings call that Disney makes more profit on the ad-supported version so the ad-free price was increased to drive people to the ad-supported version.

For those who have just canceled the existing subscription but account still valid until the end of the current subscription period (like me), here is the T&C for the returning subscriber:

"Offer valid for new and eligible returning Hulu and Disney+ subscribers (who have not been Hulu or Disney+ subscribers in the past 1 month)"

So basically, you need to create a new account with new credential.

Sure, but if it's a new form of payment not tied to another account, the name only matters as it's tied to the card. Shouldn't matter for the purpose of signing up for a new account.

I was paying $79 for 3 years Disney plus when they first started. Than after three years, $129. Than $179. Enough is enough so cancel. Thanks goodness for $2.99 a month for Disney plus and hulu plus. $35.88 a year is such a great price. Disney is pricing out a lot of people. Hopefully a lot of ppl will say enough is enough for high prices.

The real deal used to being able to add Disney+ WITHOUT ads for a steal. Is that no longer possible?

I hate the amount of ads, but you can't deny the amount of entertaining content you get for that price. Almost impossible not to jump on this.

I figured as much. But my current card has the best streamimg discount. Oh well. Can't have it all. This is still a huge improvement over the $27 mo. I've been paying.

The one consolation is you can use an ad-blocker on your laptop and connect it to the TV. But I can't handle the ads anymore.

I know it's subjective, but for someone new to Disney+, what would you recommend as must watches? I glanced over it and have watched most of the marvel movies etc. Just wondering what things are so good there that they are able to charge so much as regular price.

Same here! I cancelled Disney this year, much to the disappointed of my kids, but it's too much. Just added with this deal for the bigger movies and some shows

That was because initially Disney+ didn't have an ad-supported tier.

Once they added the lower tier they transitioned us away from the ad-free version and then made the lower tier the Black Friday offer.

Still worth it if you want Disney/Marvel/Star Wars movies and shows, Simpsons back catalog, and other random stuff.

Tried to watch an episode of Married with Children, it is a 15-minutes episode. Got pushed to watch 5 60-second ads
