You can get a 65" Bravia 9 for about the same price. Not sure what's the better deal.

Depends on your preference. The AV purists will likely go for the A95L
They are both widely considered to be the best of their panel types

I own the A95L and love it and prefer OLED for movie watching
Though I am sure I would like the Bravia 9 better than the Samsung QN90C I own

Nice TV, I'm happy with mine but it's hard to justify the premium over other OLEDs unless price just isn't a factor or you watch high quality (4k uhd) content

All about preferences and viewing environment.

Bravia 9 will be best for SDR content and sports, will shine in a well lit room, while the A95L will have better contrast in darker rooms.

Aren't the LG's like $2k for this size?

I thought the days of $2500 65" TVs were behind us. Then again inflation is up crazy since 2020.

Like $1k.
The C4 is not a fair comparison. If you wanted to compare an LG model to this, it would be the G4. The C4 is more in line with Sony's Bravia 8.

There are many great 65" TVs at this price point. Like many things, there will be products that span a range of quality/features and price. The A95L won TV of the Year two years in a row; in the opinion of many, it is the beast TV you can get.

Not only that, but Sony TV's in general are always more expensive than other brands. For instance, you can typically find the S90C 83" (WOLED) for $2,000 - $2,500 instead of paying $2,500 for the Sony A95L (QD OLED). The Sony will have the better upscaling; motion handling, and processing, but most people will go for the bigger TV for the same price. You could opt for A95L 77", but that TV is roughly double the price at $4,999.99. You should be able to find an LG G4 83" for less than that.

Lastly, I remember when the A90J 83" launched in 2021. I desperately wanted to get that TV, but I couldn't fathom spending $8,000 on any TV with two HDMI 2.1 ports. Due to the high price of Sony TV's, they're out of reach for most consumers.

Seriously....would you have spent $8000 if the 83" A90J had 4 HDMI ports?

No, but if I paid that kind of money for any TV I would want to be able to use it for at least 5-10 years without having the itch to upgrade.

Ok...so a moot point anyway then

I suspect someone buying that TV was using some sort of device(AVR, Prepro etc) that had multiple HDMI 2.1 ports

5-10 years is a long time in display technology
There was no QD-OLED or Mini LED then. Two game changers in my opinion
