The trick is that the buy 2 get one free promo takes off the full price of the book before the coupon and then applies the coupon on top of that. It works with other things that are in the sale and have a coupon as well so you aren't stuck getting 3 of this book. Polar Express is around the same price and has a coupon as well so you could get 3 of those for about $13 or 2 of those and 1 of the states book for the same price. I ended up doing this book, polar express, and the full color grinch for $20 total.
There are thousands of items in the promo so post it here if you find any other good combos!

I can't seem to replicate buy 3 for price of 2 anymore and not on list of eligible items anymore either
