My 2 cents, I've had steel jacks since the late 70's and never had an issue, after 30 years maybe the piston seals leak and the jack will no longer stay up. I finally due to age and weight decided to try a harbor freight aluminum jack that lasted 6 months due to my Rx 350 must have been off level a drop near my driveway and BAM, that jack tilted and crushed like a tin can-it wasn't up high or off by much. I will never trust another aluminum jack, I used my old jacks on every surface you could imagine growing up and they never budged. Also always use a jack stand for safety with any jack. Happy Thanksgiving all
Wow! That is crazy!! Was thinking about buying one - not anymore…. Thx. Also, if you have some old HF jackstands - they may be on a recall list. Brought some back last Memorial Day. Gave me a gift card with no questions asked…

$100 for a proper 3-ton jack is an excellent deal.
Regarding the weight, 70+ lbs is pretty typical for a 3 ton jack, it's not really meant to be carried around.
A 2 ton jack would be better for that, but they're not nearly as stable or strong as a 3 ton.

IKR. I live in an apartment building, and it's a 2-300 foot walk to my car, plus stairs each way. I want this jack very much, but I doubt it's practical. I've been using a tire jack, and two 3-ton jack stands for years. I wonder if someone in a similar living arrangement bought one and has any feedback about his decision.
Just leave the jack and stands in your car. What else would you be using your jack and stands for other than your car?

My Arcan is still going strong after 10yrs, mine is the hybrid Alum/steel 2.5T blue one, just had to add some jack oil when it wouldn't hold weight

This floor jack is a good one at this price point but it is way too heavy for the average person to routinely lug the jack up stairs or carry in/out your trunk. Perhaps you can leave it at a friend/family member home or trusted tenant on the lower level. The floor jack rolls nice on flat concrete floors but that changes drastically on gravel or broken pavement and on grass....forget about it.

Got one. It's still sitting in the package in my van. Hopefully, I get to use it soon. Thanks!

Hope they bring back the aluminum one at a good price. I got a Norco Steel 2.5 ton jack. Weighs a ton. At least I never have to worry about loaning it out to anyone.

If this js the one I'm thinking of, the lift height isn't great. Enough for your standard sedan, but too low to handle a crossover or suv. Could barely lift the tires off the ground on my 22 mitsubishi outlander.
Lift under the a-arm on each side…more than enough lifting capacity

Don't let that story spook you…100 percent user error….ALWAYS JACK ON A "as close to level" surface as possible…..I've had very heavy duty jacks tip , and it was 100 percent my fault…never have I had one tip that was on a suitable surface

I recently got an aluminum jack from Walmart. Even carefully keeping to the capacity limits, it's still kind of a cheaply made product that struggles to life even my little mini cooper. I wanted the aluminum for portability vs. my Harbor Freight jacks, and it is definitely easier to move around. That said, I'm not sure it's worth it. It doesn't lift very high or very quicky. I recommend sticking with a steel jack like this one or one from H.F.
HF Pittsburgh 3 ton steel jack is going to be on sale for one day only on 12/12 for $80. It weights about 8 lbs less. I am thinking about getting it.

Just so you know, that 3 ton jack doesn't go very low at 5 1/8".

I had to drive my Honda Accord tires up onto small blocks first, to get enough clearance to slide the jack beneath the main front jacking point . It only missed by like 1/2".

Thanks for pointing out the min lift height. I did not realize it was not the low-profile one.

The body of the Pittsburgh basic 3 ton jack is about 3 shorter in overall length than the 3 ton low-profile, so that's why it weighs less.

The soon to be $80 3 ton Pittsburgh jack is equivalent in size to the red 3T Craftsman in this video at the 8:00 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lyjq2bidBoQ

It's a perfectly good serviceable jack, just not ideal for 'low-ish' cars.
