Receivers tend to support multiple options for those extra speakers including side and height so manufactures will now say how many total speaker channels powered and then how many supported subwoofers and not further complicate it.

is this online only? does it work with the coupon, did anyone try?
In my area it is also in warehouse at same price. Gonna grab one in the morning. You can check in the Costco app by searching when on the warehouse tab. Nope this was not a product included with the $50 off $400 deal.

Same boat as some here who purchased this recently. I've already submitted an adjustment request. How long and/or painful is the process after requesting? Never done it before with Costco.

This was already a good deal at $400. It's a really good deal, IMO, at $300.

This or Onkyo TX-NR797 9.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver for $379? Any suggestions?
TX-NR797 is not supporting eARC, however AVR-X1700H 7.2 does.

I just replaced an Onkyo TX-NR6050 with this Denon AVR-x1700H because of a similar firmware issue that blocked access to configuration and broke both the web interface and mobile apps from working. This unit has a simpler GUI interface than what Onkyo provides, but it works well enough. You can make the setup a bit easier if you use the Denon remote control app or the web interface to configure the receiver. While it doesn't output as much wattage on paper, but I couldn't notice any real differences. I'm using this with a 5.1 set of Polk LSI series speakers and frankly I do think it sounds better for music and movies than the Onkyo does. I have a Denon AVR-S760H as well, as they're pretty similar. Just disable CEC HDMI handshaking on these units as it's buggy and will switch to the wrong device if you leave the feature enabled. Also pro tip, you can disable Zone 2 from the remote by holding the "Zone 2" button and "Setup" button at the same time until "Main" and "Zone 2" blink.
Curious about the CEC HDMI issues. You are the first person I've seen post this. I'm running a Pioneer Elite right now (entry level model), but the CEC works perfectly. It unfortunately doesn't have HDMI 2.1 for the PS5.
Also wondering what the bankruptcy means for Denon. Guessing that is why these are being reduced in price.

I didn't read "bankruptcy" in the article, but I know Masimo is actively selling Sound United. Just like w/any company w/a desirable technology, it will have its buyer as long as the owner concedes on price. Masimo overpaid for Sound United and that's part of the reason why the MSRP of Denon/Marantz are so high. The pricing now is closer to pre-Pandemic levels and direct competition w/the PAC group.

To be fair to Denon, the CEC HDMI issues I've been with Onkyo TX-NR6050 as well. However, what I experience with the S760H (practically the same unit) is roughly that sometimes other devices will cause the receivers to change input sources despite the other devices already being powered on previously or in standby mode. I was losing my patience and simply turned off the CEC handshaking and that resolved the weird changing of inputs. Onkyo didn't have this problem nearly as much, happened only twice, compared to the Denon which happened far too often, but I still disabled the feature to prevent it.

Again, maybe there has been a firmware update to fix the issue, but I just skip the feature instead.

Also for those that did a price adjustment who recently bought the receiver, Costco just refunded the difference for me after a day. So definitely file those price adjustment requests online.

I never knew that trick. Will help my dad who frequently hits that button by mistake. Thanks!

as a ex-music industry lighting tech, I would always get the Denon over the Onkyo, but as an IT pro, I also need ease of use. Glad to see the Denon should work out for me. My use are occasional movies (streaming & blue-ray), I'll be using it mostly for music cd's & TV

Basic question about the Denon 2 zone -- I want to set up a second set of wired speakers in another room. Where would I connect the Zone 2 on the Denon? I don't see a Zone 2 speaker out on the back - or am i missing something basic? <--- very possible

According to the manuel, zone 2 speakers are connected to the surround back L&R & configured to zone 2 in the controle panel. So to use 2 zone, the set up is 5.1
I can live with that, https://www.denon.com/on/demandwa...ual-en.pdf

I don't know if it's also your issue, but I've personally observed older HDMI cables causing CEC issues with newer devices. If you aren't using decent HDMI 2.1 certified cables, update them before you condemn the AVR or even your TV.

I have had many issues with HDMI CEC with my Denon X2500H and I can assure you it's not just because of the cables. It's a known issue I've seen in forums, and in my particular case it's a LG C3 OLED that it has issues with the Denon AVR but not my Samsung Frame. I just use an optical cable for sound and disable ARC after troubleshooting for many days / weeks and having tried every trick or solution under the sun (hard resets on both devices, new cables, different ports, AB testing, power cycling, etc).
