Wow. What a "deal". I know people that only paid $65 dollars need new blood to subsidize them. But at least post actual deals. Some of the subscription sales are okay, if you don't mind having yet another subscription in your life.

This was an overhyped sale all over unRaid Reddit forums. Everyone was hoping for a discount on lifetime license. No one wants another sub. I don't think they are that far off of TrueNas Scale.

I thought they don't have subs? Paid updates after 1 year free, sure, but that's not a subscription and the software doesn't stop working like with a sub. That's how it worked in the "good ol' days" anyway and my preferred way to support software development. I'd much rather pay for updates with new features rather than pay for access.
Their "mistake" was offering lifetime licenses in the first place: just not sustainable and set the wrong price anchor, but I guess it did help them grow quickly. Hyping a sale that they know won't meet expectation is dumb though
