The DiscoverIt card finally has value this quarter for those that also have Target and Prime 5% cards. (Amazon & Target are Q4 5% categories.)
Edit: I did a chat on discover.com and asked if I could get a retention offer since I was considering cancelling and immediately got offered a bonus 3% extra Cashback for three months effective the next day. Worth a shot to get 8% CB with your Discover card instead of 5!
I have target red card and keep getting offers like "Use red card to purchase $100 worth to get $10 off/wallet cash". Does anyone know payments done using gift card count towards those offer limit?
If not, was thinking to buy GC on another account which doesn't have redcard attached to it.
But I saw someone say that Target doesn't code as "grocery" (at least for the Amazon Prime card), so this offer doesn't really qualify for Target anyway, so don't feel too bad!
I mean, I'm paranoid about this stuff esp if I'm doing over $100 worth of GC, I'd prob do it in person and I also save/scan the receipt so I have a record of it.
Physical gift cards are orders of magnitude riskier. Physical gift cards are open to multiple scams that digital aren't. You just need to make sure you triple check the delivery email address of the person.
Does anyone know: if you buy the cards online with AmEx Blue Cash everyday card, do you get the 3% for online purchases? Is it processed as an online purchase?
Will it be risky to buy physical card and mail to me?
I would like to buy some physical cards for Christmas presents.
I wouldn't try it personally. They did take forever to ship the gift cards, then I had some go missing. I had others marked delivered and not be when they said they were, but then showed up about a week later after I contacted Target and had them all refunded. It was a pain then to rush to get last minute Christmas presents.
Better to buy the giftcards just for your own use throughout the year, and give people cash as gifts -that way they can choose where the money gets spent. I have the cashier put $50 each on 10 giftcards, number them, and use them in order, wrapping the most recent receipt around the card so I know how much should be left on it. When a card is empty, I mark it as empty and hold onto all cards until I've used them all. I've never had a problem, but if value disappeared from a card, I'd try disputing the amount with my credit card as Target wouldn't have delivered the product that was promised.
If you use the app, there might be a way to easily load them to the app for in-store use. I refuse to use apps however; too many security and privacy issues.
I am the say way with limiting apps and rarely use my phone. A few years ago someone on SD posted a direct link so you could add to your account via their WEBSITE. Although I have since started using their app, I still have the link saved as a shortcut and checked to see that is still works:
Is this worth the risk? Worried that gift card could be stolen, you know by random number generators.
With Apple or Amazon, you can add all those gift cards immediately to account balance. Not so with Target.
Yeah, besides the chance of fraud etc., this is not worth it for me unless I was already looking at buying something. A large gift card balance tends to make me buy things I would not have bought otherwise. It's easy to waste money when you can justify the purchases as "oh, I have already spent this money, so might as well buy this thing I didn't really need as it isn't costing me anything extra out of pocket today". I am good with money, but I always fall for this trap. Lol.

You can add gift cards to your target account to keep safe. I believe once they are added to your account, it's not allowed to be added to other accounts.

Adding it to your account doesn't prevent it from being used separately.
