One difference I know of is that QD5 is Google TV while QD6 is Fire TV.
I picked up this TV from BB yesterday. I needed a cheap tv for the bedroom. Setup was quick. It takes a couple seconds to gather itself when your first turn it on but them everything has been smooth. I tried Hulu, Netflix, Plex and YouTube. All working fine, I connected via wireless and I have food Internet so no issues with streaming. I was impressed with the speakers, I had no intention of putting in a sound bar or anything. I also paired my airpods to it so I can watch at night without disturbing anyone, that was quick and easy and no audio delay.

Overall for the price I am happy with the picture quality, sound and software.
First I bought the 43" q6 from Costco. That tv sucked, washed out colors, piss poor viewing angles. Thinking I got a bad set I returned it and got the same tv in a 55". The great cosco warranty kept dragging me back in. The 55" was just as bad plus the sound would kick out intermittently and I'd have to do the unplug/replug/wait routine. Inspite of all the qed labeling and positive reviews I just don't get the hype with these tvs. They suck so much that everytime it pops up on SD I have to add my comments. I researched Rtings and based on their recommendations I purchased the Hisene u7n (TCL QM7 and Q7 also highly recommended. I'm a cheap (frugal) b*****d and the additional cost of these tv's are well worth it. Godspeed.

I bought the Hisense 55" with fire TV from Costco on BF. Just using it for my bedroom to replace a 5 year old TCL 43". Mainly just to use to watch stuff from my plex or ps5.
For the price point of i think it was 229 for the 55", it's great. For like $100 more i could of gotten one of the Samsung or LG tvs that were also on sale for BF, it would have been a better panel, but their OS/UI/CPU on those tvs are pretty shit.
The picture/color was decent for the price, but the sound from it was actually pretty good.

Make note of 200x300mm VESA size. I had to return this TV because my mount only was 200x200 max.

I think you figured it out, most of the budget tvs aren't better than 5 years ago, some worse. Insignia, LG, and Samsung budget tvs are better than anything hisense/vizio/roku/tcl. Better brightness and colors, insignia has the best sound usually. Unless you go up to that $600-1000 you won't see much jump in quality. People should go to wallyworld and BB and look at all budget sets, you can see which is crap and which is ok.
Couldn't agree more

Five years ago, bought a refurbished Vizio LED D43f-F1 for about 130 on ebay. It continues to work flawlessly, knock on wood, and I see no need to upgrade to 4K or anything else since viewing distance over 10 feet and, well, it still works nicely. And this is with around 4 hours of use a day! And full backlight etc

I've no idea if this is normal, this sort of longevity, but I'm pleased and also worry that a newer TV will be a step backward in this area

4k has better colors, not just resolution.
But if you're 10 ft away, you're probably not that invested in what you're watching.

Sadly I realized none of the local TV stations in my area even broadcast in 4K as of yet. Unless you pay for premium your Netflix is only 1080. Most free TV streaming apps are not 4K. But for YouTube videos the 4K really makes a wonderful difference. Guess it depends what people are using the most with their TV.

I got this TV Saturday to use as my everyday monitor. When initialing, it gives the option to use just as a TV instead of a Google TV, which I did. I did not connect the wireless. I use the remote only to turn it back on every morning. I've turned a smart TV into a dumb monitor. It works great for my purposes.

I upgraded from a 720P 32" Acer, not a widescreen, which was just over 16" in height w/o the stand. There aren't many flat screen monitors over 32", so to get the same vertical space in a widescreen monitor, I would have had to go up to a 39". They are not cheap.

For this price, I get a large screen, no logon monitor with the option to use as a TV when/if needed. Glad I got this. Thank you.

A relative bought the Costco version (qd6) recently. His complaint is that he always wants the TV to turn on with HDMI 1 as the default, which connects to his cable box. Instead it goes to another input and he has to change it every time. Does anyone know if the default input can be changed? I assume it should.

rtings reports this displays chroma 4:4:4 in PC mode. so there's that if that's a thing for you. Nice plus for mid $1XX range on decent price for critical feature for TV as display users.

I set if on the Q570F that I bought last year at Costco to always start at HDMI1. I couldn't remember the exact sequence, so I googled it. It sounded familiar, so it should work, but if it does not work, I will check on my TV.

Fire TV: Set Default Input Upon Power On

From the Home screen, choose "Settings".
Choose "Display & Sounds".
Select "Set Power".
Change the setting to "Last input".

Good Luck

Amazon Prime has many things that are 4K UHD. TV shows and movies.
Otherwise, you'd have to buy the physical UHD discs and a 4k player.
IMO, I opt never to do that again. I bought so many 1080p HD blu-rays only to see 4K come out. So, unless I am going to watch something annually (Die Hard Big Grin) that requires good video and audio, I have come to just stick with streaming. It's compressed and not lossless video/audio, but streaming is convenient.
Truthfully, I was underwhelmed with 1080p on my projector (130"). I know 4k is better, but I think I'll wait for 8k (if I'm not dead) before I buy physical again and can afford one of those projectors (probably faux 8k, as an actual 8k projector that is consumer affordable will take 20+ years).

Update:
I just checked and large theaters only display 2k-4k, so maybe it will be time soon for me to go back to hard discs and a true 4k projector. We'll see. Don't watch as much content as I used to, but having friends over was always fun to watch TV series (Game of Thrones) and when movies got released.
