Uses about half the electricity as my old dryer, I have cheap power so the break even point over a cheap electric one is like 7 years out.
I thought it was going to make my laundry room cold since I thought it would suck the heat out of the room but it's the opposite, it makes it hotter than my older dryer because it doesn't vent the hot air outside, it just builds up in the room.
Dry times are longer but it's not too bad unless it's towels or bedding, usually only about 20 min longer than my old dryer but towels and bedding is like 1.5 hours longer.
Would I get it again? I would if I lived somewhere with expensive power, where I am now, probably not.
Delivery from LG was ok, they didn't do anything terrible but they tried to just leave it in my driveway and I had to convince them that I paid to have them bring it into the room.
This is LGs definition of in home delivery from their website:
Major Appliances can be shipped via In-Home Delivery option, which includes delivery only. The carrier will arrive within a time window of your choosing and place the item in the preferred room of your home or office. Fees apply. See here: https://members.us.lg.c
So there is no mistake that they are supposed to bring it inside, I would challenge you to read the details of what a company offers instead of saying that it probably doesn't say that.

I don't know about Heat Pump for dryers but I have a Heat Pump for my mini-split HVAC and like it. I look forward to learning more about dryers.
It also reduces impact on house heating since it does not expel warm air from inside the house and causing cold air infiltration.
It is easier on fabric but takes longer to dry. Big benefit is that washing and drying is all completed without doing anything so it does save time.
On the negative side it is more complex than heating elements units so more likely to fail. This type units are relatively new for the US markets. There were many smaller models sold in Europe in the last 20-30 years but this LG unit is relatively new, 3-4 years. It is difficult to predict how long it would last.

My experience as a builder who gets a lot of deliveries is that companies usually pay an extremely higher rate for their insurance to bring things inside, maybe a vast majority of damage claims are inside of houses and the freight insurance covers the item up until it's dropped, but any carrying of it after it enters the house but before they're done - that section is tricky with insurance, is it the freight that caused an issue or the delivery guys -- This isn't necessarily difficult in real life to figure out but as far as which insurance company is liable, it can be..
The delivery guys are caught in the middle, often they want to just help the client out and bring it in, they also have a hard time understanding why they can't just bring it in the dang door, often the client is some elderly lady and they feel bad, there they are they could just do it they don't mind.. -But the buisness is cutthroat, there's a lot of competition and a company like LG is not in that buisness, they sell the heavy things and contract with delivery companies to get it delivered and they want to pay as little as possible like anyone else - So the bosses hear about delivery guys bringing things in and guys get fired, it isn't just about the time, probably that too, but those insurance claims.. too many claims and they can't have cheap enough prices so they're out of buisness because the LG's or HomeDepoes of the world will contract with a different shipping company who can offer a better price.
Also I would challenge the poster to look at their paperwork, if it does state that they get it delivered inside of their house, then they were correct - but I bet it didn't state that, and I bet the delivery guys are risking their jobs because it's too cumbersome to try to explain this whole thing to every customer

All in one units are historically considered to have a higher failure rate and be more costly to repair, simply because they are more complex than individual units.
However the all-in-one heat pump units have three advantages:
- Seamless single step wash + dry, no need to transfer clothes or downtime between washing and drying.
- More compact than two individual units.
- Tax credit for heat pump washer applied to entire unit (individual washer would not qualify for the heat pump credit), IIRC if eligible it can be up to 30% of the purchase price.
When I bought my heat pump dryer, I don't recall heat pump all-in-ones being available and there wasn't a tax credit yet. This was about 3 years ago, IIRC.Sign up for a Slickdeals account to remove this ad.
