Firestone [firestonecompleteautocare.com] offers a Cyber Monday deal: get a Firestone $50 Gift Card FREE when you make an online appointment by 12/6/24, fulfill the appointment, and purchase any product or service by 12/24/24.

I'm wondering if I'll get a $50 gift card for making an online appointment for an oil change, then getting my car's oil changed? If so, that's basically a money-maker for me as my car uses conventional oil.

Gift card must be used 1/1/25-3/31/25 toward any tire or service purchase. Note I've added the full terms & conditions to the wiki. Anyway, any comments/suggestions on this deal are appreciated.

I have their lifetime alignment and that's pretty much the only time I take my car in there. I've been looking to buy their lifetime wheel balance. I wonder what the cheapest thing I could buy is from there to get the $50 off to help pay for the wheel balance

I didn't know they have lifetime when balance. Thanks!
Is it for the life of the car or the life of the tires? Here's the fine print: Lifetime balance is only warrantied so long as originally balanced tires remains on wheel. If needed, additional charge may apply for resetting

Windshield wipers, maybe? I wonder if Firestone sells a tire pressure gauge?

Okay, so I'm thinking best uses here are oil changes or windshield wiper replacements. Yes, online appointments are available for wiper replacements.

Correct, lifetime of tires. The alignment is lifetime of car ofcourse.

I usually just take my car in twice a year for both and that's pretty much the only money I pay them for the life of my car/tires.

Who knows how much wipers cost over there lol. Plus the labor to install.
I wonder if pressure gauge counts or if I need to buy a service

There is usually a deal around black friday and new years. Usually like $40 or $60 off

It's probably a 'loss leader', so they can attempt to sell you everything your vehicle doesn't necessarily leave.

While I admit they are likely all a little different. The one time and first time and last time - 12 years ago - I took my car in for an oil change, they attempted to upsell me $1400.00 dollars worth of repairs. Granted my car was old. Granted I am not even close to car knowledgeable. However I had only taken my car there because 'it was just a maintenance oil change' and my 'goto' honest garage mechanic was swamped under work.

Needless to say, I declined the work, but now being concerned drove over to his shop after Firestone was done. When I shared what they suggested, he laughed. That told me all I needed to know. Never used Firestone again. To be clear, I'm sure some Firestone's are very different. But I'm never going to find out and have to deal with 'scare tactics' to get into my wallet again.

If you have Bridgestone Firestone tires just go in for the free rotation and buy a bottle of their fuel treatment, $10. That's my plan anyways.

Same here, I absolutely dread going there. I just put some new tires on my wifes SUV with discount tire last week, no appointment and was in and out in about 75 mins. I had and appointment at firestone for the alignment the same day, but they called and said they were over booked (not surprised to be honest), ended up leaving the car there for 5 hours, they called and told me would be ready in 30 mins, i got there in 30 minutes and proceeded to wait another hour. The guy working on it was clearly frustrated with something, he took it for a test drive, came back and threw my keys on the counter to one of the guys on the front desk. Probably over worked and underpaid.
I bought my last set of tires there with the road hazard, I had to make an appointment to get my flat repaired, only to come back 3 hours later to see my tire sitting in the same spot. They could never get the leak in one tire fixed. These issues are across multiple locations, I think they are under staffed and over worked, they really need a revamp of their processes.

Obviously the experience is going to vary from store to store. You can have good shops and shady shops in the same chain. Management makes a big difference, not to mention how they structure their incentives.
Worth noting, the lifetime alignment has gone on special many years on New Year's Day. I picked it up many years ago for $99 and got it on two vehicles. Has paid for itself many times over. If going to take advantage of this deal, might be worth using the $50 gift card on New Year's Day special.

There are good and bad shops. The one I've been going to has been pretty good.
Once or twice, they recommended a service I didnt need. At the same time, they've recommended things like "air filter change" but then said "you can just do it yourself".

Any idea how much the lifetime wheel balance actually costs these days. I remember it was around $30 about a decade ago. However, I'm seeing reports of walmart selling for $15/tire now.

I took my car there for a "free" assessment when I was fresh out of college many years ago. Car was only 3 years old and yet I magically needed like 6 different repairs totaling thousands of dollars. Luckily, I took it to another mechanic. After he assessed the car and found one minor thing, spark plugs, I showed him the written estimate. He told me two of the parts they wanted to replace did not even exist on that model car. #firestonefail. In the 30 years since, I will not get so much as an oil change there and have probably bought 15 sets of tires for my various cars. And I always tell them NO Firestone. So one bad car care center has cost them at least $15,000 or more of business from me.

For wheel balancing best bet is Discount Tire co. If your tires are new within 2 year (I believe) they will warranty each tire for $35 or so each. This includes lifetime wheel balancing and roadhazard protection. If the tire gets a nail that cannot be repaired they will replace the tire. Best deal I have seen so far. I use firestone/tires plus for alignment.

So here's an update...

I made an online appointment for a car care package [firestonecompleteautocare.com] at my local Firestone. The service took about 45 minutes and cost $9.99 (see link above for coupon). The store manager confirmed that my appointment/service is eligible for the $50 e-gift card. Yay! Note the e-gift card is valid Jan. 2025 - Mar. 2025. I'll be using it for my next oil change.

If there's a better/cheaper way to get this promo, please feel free to share. I think this deal is slick and I'm surprised it's not getting more attention here.
