I still don't trust it, unfortunately. I either buy direct (if I can) or it's Macy's. Bleh.
These brands are known for being heavily discounted at (legitimate) discounters like Jomashop, and Macy's loved them for the huge markup they can sell them at. That pretty much goes against what Slickdeals is all about
Defy EDT 1.7 is $27.98 at Joma versus $83 at Macy's
Eros is $49.99 (or $41.80) versus $105 on Macy's
Layton is $219 versus $365
Jomashop, FragranceX, FragranceNet, Fragrancebuy and others all sell legitimate and sell the same stuff you find in Macy's. That's not to say trust every website out there or order from 3rd party sellers, but the above are all legit and all have shitty websites
But do some research and see how legit the website is.. its not that hard
Just a word of advice, if you want to spend some more and get the Eros EDP version much better projection and longevity.

That is correct on some of the fragrances (others, like Versace Eros Flame which just came out, are already available at discounters)
But older batches/old stock tend to actually be preferred over newer batches. With a lot of fragrance houses reformulating their fragrances, older batches may often last a bit longer than newer ones. Similar to how Creed Aventus has a lot of "preferred" and "not preferred" batches, this seems to also be true with other brands, and the older ones being recommended a bit more, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.
It is correct that most retail stores (ie: Macys/Nordstrom/Neiman) won't sell fragrances that are too old - they tend to want to keep fresh stock and will often sell these back to the parent company for fresh stock or sell them to other companies.
Fragrances don't really have an 'expiration date', but they generally have a "Period After Opening" date, which basically says "We guarantee this fragrance will smell like it should for X years after opening".. but that begins with when the fragrance is opened/used, not when it was produced. I have lots of stuff from the 90's/2000's that still smell great, it's mostly that the manufacturer will only want to guarantee products for so long after opening
