- Ideapad has smaller battery (57Wh vs 71Wh)
- Ideapad has lower tier HDMI output (1.4 vs 2.1--Ideapad cannot output 4K via HDMI, such as to your TV)
- Ideapad ABS plastic vs Yoga aluminum
The Ryzen 7 8840HS version of OP's laptop sometimes goes on sale at Best Buy (83DK000AUS), lowest I've seen is $599.
The differences between the 8840HS version and this 125U version are:
- 8840HS version has a slightly worse WiFi adapter (RZ616 vs Intel)
- 8840HS version has a slightly slower USB port (10Gbps vs 40Gbps)
- 8840HS version CPU is ~40% more powerful than 125U
- 8840HS version battery life is ~20% less than 125U
This laptop in OP was part of the Lenovo black friday doorbusters for $599, and looks like that coupon code (YOGADB2) doesn't work anymore, but it could be stacked with 15% CB from multiple sources (a popular CB site, and also Chase was offering 15% too on some cards), and the new email $20 off $500 offer from Lenovo (sign up for their emails). This is a simpler deal but not as low as you could go with that deal.

Yes, the Ryzen is more powerful but this refresh of 125U, despite not being powerful, is closely as efficient as the former. Better to provide the whole picture instead of nitpicking specs. Overall, this laptop is a better pick.

it's FASTER. it can game if you want. but it's faster. about 30 to 40% faster. in terms of gaming, it's just 100000% better, probably more but I don't have stats to support lol
display port 1.4 for 4k 120 Hz makes your argument moot. it's just a matter of using a different cable, USBC to HDMI
ideapad 5 is better, unless you care about the build material and battery and it's willing to sacrifice speed for it.
the Ryzen model can GAME if you wanted, but it's just all around faster.
he also mentioned it can't do 4k on HDMI output, but you can if you use the USBC display port out. it has display port 1.4, so 4k 120Hz. a properly rated cheap USBC to HDMI on Amazon should be fine
if you care more about build quality, then get the yoga, but for me, performance is key

I did not say you said it. another person mentioned it was 1.4b HDMI, which has limiting 4k output. both laptop has display port 1.4 I believe, so 4k 120 Hz for both to any TV or monitor at 4k 120 Hz
I was also very clear that gaming was optional if you want it. and if you game on battery, it doesn't matter what battery is in there. you're getting a little over an hour
and I even wrote that if battery and build material is important, you should get the yoga
but, and let's just hammer it home again, the Ryzen 7 model is significantly faster.
don't say this, or that, is better. that is a meaningless comment. it's better to say what device makes more sense for the specific person.
there's too many ppl commenting on this chat. I don't know what you said or didn't say. do not take it personal. let's stick to the facts of the what either the two laptop is and who should be buying this, or that.
