Just a note on myQ - yes it is reliable, but for those folks who want local control and not to give away their usage data to be sold, myQ has intentionally broken every effort to piggyback on their API to the point where you need a 3rd party adapter to do any sort of smart home integration without attaching to myQ.

Didn't expect to see MyQ shills in here.

Chamberlain took their open access APIs and moved them behind a paywall: so now Apple, Google home systems can't operate their devices anymore.
Genie doesn't have a stellar track record here either (their APIs aren't stable and randomly break too).

The only real option is going with something like the Meross controller on a dumb unit, which even works with HomeKit natively.

That one or the Genie one also for $99?

Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing.

I've installed about 20 of the genie ones. No complaints. All BF promos.

1/2 hp and no keypad, I'll keep looking. Would also like the light to come on when it senses motion.

Home Depot was in store only. Lowe's stores seem to have two in stock at each location for pick up at $98.00

Search for item: 5407397
Genie 1/2 Hpc Ultra Quiet Belt Drive Garage Door Opener Battery Back-up
Item #5407397 |
Model #1055B-VE
Save $100 ends Dec 5
Possibly find Lowe's GC on sale also to combine

Seems Genie openers have longer warranty than Chamberlain units. My 11 year old Chamberlain garage door opener started having issues of not going down with remotes (main remote as well as our car homelink buttons) when the weather started to get cooler especially in the morning. Sometimes it doesn't also open door when it's cold. Wired button opener always works though. Must be some logic board issues with the remote wireless signal.

Change your remote's battery.

Did you happen just install LED lights somewhere in your garage?

One thing to consider on Genie vs Chamberlain is the brand of your current opener if you are replacing one. Staying with the same brand (or related e.g liftmaster/Chamberlain/Craftsman) means you're more likely to be able to pair your existing remotes to the new opener.

I've changed the remote battery twice with 2 different brands, Duracell and Energizer. Been using the same bulb for the past 7+ years. It was warmer this afternoon here in SoCal and both cars were able to open/close the garage door. Tried it several times and will do again tomorrow, weather supposed to be nice and warmer again.

I've already purchased the Genie garage opener that is on sale for $98 from Lowes 2 days ago and plan to replace my Chamberlain opener in the next coming days. The same Genie unit is on sale for $99 on some Home Depot locations or shipped for $9 extra. Manufacturer warranty listed on Home Depot site for each unit:

Genie warranty: 10 Year Motor, 15 Year Belt

Chamberlain warranty: 6 Year Motor, 5 Year Belt
