Love his content, but can anyone share their experiences with crunchlab products?

Thanks, I was holding out for a discount on this. Was hoping there would be something on Black Friday, but I'll take this! Seems like it rarely goes on sale. Thanks for posting!

We have a subscription for the older kids' hack pack. My son begged me for it, and it looked cool on video. I wish they would give more guided steps for programming to engage kids. As it stands, it looks to me like glorified lego sets with gadgets that could do so much more than what kids will do with them. My opinion is that, while the product are of good quality, educational value is questionable and most kids are unlikely to be self motivated enough to get the most out of these products.

Definitely a great deal.

One note: there isn't a discount if you are gifting this to someone else. The discount only works if you are subscribing directly.

Access to the space selfie should also be soon available to TMO subscribers via the T-Life app and also Google Pixel customers.

It certainly is noteworthy that the quality isn't as low as often exists in this space. My son won a few of the build boxes from a STEM event and I was pleased that the quality was sufficient to enable a younger child to complete the builds with minimal guidance beyond the included instructions. The build packs are much like many kits made with laser cut pieces... but some of those laser-cut kits can be made with tolerances that demand constant adult supervision and/or intervention.

Of course, even the discounted price is arguably a bit steep (I'd recommend including a price/kit in the listing for reference) so I'd still consider these as something that would absolutely make a great gift from a generous relative but $20 per box per month could alternately buy a LOT of LEGO, Snap Circuits, etc.

Good luck!
Jon

As a separate follow-up, I would imagine there might be a reasonably active online community for extension ideas. Perhaps some slickdealers have guidance on where such resources might be available(?).

Good luck!

There's an active discord for these. I've not looked into it in depth but it does seem pretty active and run by crunchlabs.

I also have this subscription and honestly a little disappointed. I thought Mark's whole thing was engineering but these products don't really inspire as other products do - each kit only builds one thing. If you want to modify it, you need to supply your own stuff. As a kid who grew up with K'nex I appreciate that one product can be built in to 20+ different things (and includes instructions to do so.)

I still enjoy the hack boxes but honestly not sure I'd purchase if I knew what I was getting. This feels like a toy that will hold interest for a short while and then will sit on a shelf. At this reduced price it might be worth it if this is your thing.

I've not bought kits like this in a long time, so I have no idea how it compares.

It is a bit of a disappointment that this offer is only valid for new customers.

We have the crunch labs subscription and at times I question its educational value. There are some concepts that they briefly touch on but not a lot. Plus you end up with a lot of stand a lone builds that just pile up.

Is this deal still live? I don't see anything about about the discount on the crunchlabs page, and no discount when I attempt to checkout (on the last payment page).
