They're very different. Apple watch (non-ultra) is a smart watch that has some fitness. Epix is a fitness/survivalist watch with some smart functions. Depends on what you prefer.

Cheapest garmin with multi-band GPS would be the 255. These watches are pretty durable so it shouldn't be an issue unless it's being smashed against a concrete wall. Putting on two layers of screen protector or wearing it only for light activity might be your only solution.

How do these compare functionally to an Apple Watch? I've been an Apple Watch user basically since the beginning mainly because of how useful it is. But this is a lot better looking. I'd love a better looking alternative.

Difference is battery life and the inability to use as a cellphone. If you run with your phone near you, Garmin is a no brainer. If you use only your watch to run, I'd go for an Apple Watch with cellular.

I believe the Instinct 2 is cheaper by $50 and has multi-band GPS. I got the ESports Instinct 1 on sale for about $100 which can do GPS + Galileo or GPS + GLONASS.

Is he breaking a sapphire lens?


My Fenix 5 sapphire lens still looks like new and I've destroyed the bands on rocks...I've banged the sapphire lens on rocks and steel with out damage. Use it for hiking, biking, and metal detecting...it gets dirty.
