It has been $1 less a couple days after Christmas
My annual post to remind everyone that virtually NO ONE needs any Turbotax version higher than Deluxe (and those that do already know it)

Although Intuit advertising will say things like Premier or H&B are recommended for people with certain circumstances the fact is that Deluxe includes all the forms you need.

In your case litesdsd, you definitely do not need anything more than Deluxe, it can handle brokerage/stock transactions just fine.

To avoid the usual replies every year, this only applies to the download/desktop version of TT, the online version of the service is completely different and the deluxe service offering online doesn't cover the same thing that the deluxe desktop version does.

https://turbotax.intuit.com/perso...e/desktop/

I'm self-employed and used Deluxe for years. SE do not need home & business, if you need the "extra help" that H&B claims to have fine but if your tax situation is the same as last year then paying more doesn't make any sense.

Consider Free Tax USA instead of supporting Intuit. Easy import of prior years' returns and did everything I needed for a significant savings. Glad someone told me about it last year!
Thanks. Will try this year.

Is it that time of year again? Time to pay the turbotax tax for the privilege of giving the government my hard earned money.
hard-earned money or money hardly earned?

Youre completely right. However, not worth it to me over a product I know how to use, has been reliable, and has reliable access to my prior information.
Plus, Free Tax is selling my information to make it "free" no thanks...

Also Free Tax charges $14.99 for state returns and it cant import 1099s often -- https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/freetaxusa

With that said, I might try using it and TT at same time to see about differences.

Can anyone tell me how similar the PC software is to the online version? I've used TT Deluxe online for like a decade. And can I import previous years from online to the PC version? I just have some funky stuff that I have to file each year and have been scared to switch because of learning curves. TY

I second this. After the utter failure with HR Block and their Solar tax credit forms last year, I tried FreeTaxUSA and it was fantastic. Highly recommend them and definitely cheaper than the competition.

Good deal. Every year I seem to miss a deal on TT and end up spending $50-ish, so buying now.

My order last year(12/27) shows $47-10 so this is actually better for Deluxe. However I also got Business on 12/27 for $121-10 not $133.

I'm comfortable with their privacy policy:

As for Intuit, their deception is well documented and I choose not to support them any longer. Just trying to inform other Slickdealers.
