I have used both the swift go 16 and this slim 7i. Although 1080p on a 14 inch seems alright on paper, In real life its bad especially with the OLED, it seems pixelated especially with text. I am a programmer and that is a deal breaker for me.
I also used the swift go 16 and its a better device for me even though its 1080p on a 16 inch display, its better to look at especially with text, i think this can be attributed to the subpixel arrangement of LCDs. Each pixel contains 3 subpixels each for RGB colors unlike OLED from what i know...
But everything else is great. The thermals are great, battery life was awesome, this also has better keyboard and trackpad imo than the swift go. This definitely would have been a better device with a higher res OLED panel or even a decent 100% sRGB 1080p IPS panel
When Windows is first installed to a device, either by you(if you build a computer) or by the manufacturer, it saves a "fingerprint" of your system's hardware to the activation server. Going forward, Windows activation servers will use that fingerprint to activate your device anytime it's installed, no key required. If it asks you for a key during the installation process, just click "skip", and after you connect to the Internet it'll be activated automatically.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-...a0bd3740be

You'll need to setup a Windows 11 bootable USB drive, you can do that by following the Microsoft guide here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-...c3b507420d

There are other 3rd party programs that can create bootable USB drives, such as Rufus, if you'd like more options.

With this drive plugged in, you boot your computer, press the button to select boot device or enter BIOS, boot from USB, and in the Windows installer delete all existing drive partitions and do a fresh install of Windows. Windows can also reboot to BIOS automatically, so you don't need to mash the BIOS key: https://www.howtogeek.com/783790/...windows-10

While installing Windows, if you don't want to tie your install to an online Microsoft account, you can skip that with a workaround: https://www.tomshardware.com/how-...ft-account

Sometimes there may be a driver that Windows doesn't include in the installer that some feature of your laptop which you need for the install process(like the touchpad). In this case, you'll need to download the drivers for your device from the manufacturer's website and load them on to a USB drive(it can be the same drive you used for Windows) then load any drivers for functions you need during the install process.

After install, connect to the Internet and download and install all the latest drivers from the manufacturer, so all the hardware features will work.

That's it. Now there's no bloatware, you only install what you choose to install.
The Acer Swift Go with Ultra 9 and 32GB at Costco for $699 is probably better.

I hate to ask this, but I just bought this HP from Costco for $899. I'm buying it for my daughter who will be going to college next year and I want her to have something capable. In addition to her studies, she likes to draw and make little animations that she's primarily done on a galaxy tab 6 lite. I was hoping to get her something that has a little oomph in case she decides to try a bit more in that respect. The HP is 100 bucks more than this, but has an extra terabyte of storage and a screen that's 2 inches larger. It's got a discrete graphics card but I don't know if the mx570 is better than Intel Arc. Additionally, I think this Lenovo has a better CPU (H series v. U series), but I'm not sure. What do y'all think, what am I missing on this? https://www.costco.com/HP-Pavilio...ue&nf=true
The H series CPUs are most certainly more powerful than the U series (both CPU and integrated GPU). In your case, you would be comparing the mx570 vs the integrated Intel Arc of the 155H.

The Aura you linked to has a better screen, more future proof WiFi and a more efficient processor but less RAM. This one has more RAM and a more powerful processor but less efficient. I bought this one for my daughter as she was starting college, but played around with it over the summer and absolutely loved it. The Aura wasn't out yet when I bought this one for her, but if available at the time, I would have been tempted to purchase a 32GB RAM Aura for her. Though I couldn't wait for the Aura to come out, I have no regrets buying this one. I think it will last her all 4 years of her Bachelor's degree. Intel did a really good job with both of these most recent processors. You will be happy with either one. I am an engineer that works in the computer field FWIW.
Thanks The 16GB Aura fit in the budget the 32GB was $1399 unfortunately. This was the reason to check this one out. It is really nice keyboard everything else. I could feel a little more snappy reaction using the aura I don't know why but thank you for explaining!

Yeah, when I wrote that post, I had already tried finding some sort of identifier for the ARC GPU for the 7 ultra 155h so that I could Google a comparison, but I has trouble finding anything. To make matters worse, it was hard to find any info on the mx 570 too.

I have the 2-in-1. I honestly can say I love the idea of the 2-in-1 but in practical purposes you're going to use a laptop as a laptop and when you need a tablet you are going to grab a tablet. I would absolutely want a touchscreen laptop and I'll advocate for that but in the real world most people are not using the 2-in-1 in tablet mode except maybe in tent mode to watch Netflix or something at a hotel. An iPad is still a better option coupled with a laptop. Each device has their specific use cases.

IMHO, anytime you buy a laptop, new or used, you should immediately format the drive and do a fresh install of Windows (or your operating system of choice; Linux, BSD, GNU Hurd, ReactOS, TempleOS, ...). Windows will activate automatically, and you won't have any bloatware to deal with.
Where do you get the fresh download of windows? Just off their website?

Yes, Microsoft supplies the installer, and one of the tools that can set it up on a USB drive:

Any idea where I can still find the Macbook Air M3 for $800? Looking for a laptop and I was going to get an M3 Air, but seems like all the sales ended last week.

You and I both. This is nice for a similar price if you're budget restricted like I was. This is a good 14"

I think you can answer my question- I bought Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i 16" from Costco. At start, it looked good but after couple of hours of use, I started noticing white spots all around the screen. Any idea what that could be?

The screen resolution is a step up from 1080p.
1080p = 1920 x 1080
WUXGA =1920 x 1200
