Fantastic price for these monitors. Just be mindful if using with PC - they have a very audible high frequency tweeter hiss from the built in amplifier. They're also prone to picking up electrical noise from the PC (I.e. you can hear a buzzing when scrolling or moving your mouse).

If you have a line out of your computer then this will not be an issue.
I'm using a pair of the 308s as garage speakers with a cheap Bluetooth adapter to send the signal from my phone and they sound fantastic!! Great speakers for the price.
I have the 308 model and the 305. Great monitors. The 8s are a seriously-sized speaker, so make sure you have space for them. Monitors are designed to be flat and unhyped across the frequencies. I like them for everything though, whether I'm recording and mixing audio or just listening to music.

How do the 305s stack up against the 308s? I have the 305s and matching jbl sub for guitar modeler with tracks to jam with and wonder if the 308s would deliver a bigger sound. Anytime I play thru them it's loud, otherwise I'm in headphones.
EDIT: Answered my own questions. Results here. VERY HAPPY with how it turned out.

I typically use a headphone setup (DAC/EQ/amp) at my home office desk setup.
I don't have room for these at ear level due to my dual monitor setup (technically, triple monitor). So I'd have to put them ABOVE ear level -- and no more than about two feet in front of me.
A) would this placement be so bad that it'd somewhat defeat the purposes of getting two of these? EDIT: from what I've read, you want the tweeters ear level if possible (as I suspected). I opted for angled silicone mats and aimed them DOWN. I just don't have room for them at ear level without modifying my setup as I did (as seen at the above link).
B) I assume at this disance, the 305P would be the preferred size. EDIT: Yes.
Also, I'm guessing I can use the XLR outputs on my Schitt Midgard as a pre-amp[hifistudio79.nl] to output to the powered speakers? Essentially PC via USB --> Schitt Modius DAC --> Schitt Lokius EQ via XLR --> Midgard XLR --> XLR outputs --> monitor inputs. EDIT: Confirmed that I can. I'm doing it with my new setup.
Pic of current setup attached for reference.

A very hissy monitor. Most monitors are hissy, junk amplifiers. Make sure you're not sensitive to speaker hiss, or you will HATE them.
This is important. They are very hissy. Very hissy. Hissy speakers. If your ears are sensitive to it, it will drive you crazy (as it has driven me crazy). I have these and love/hate them. When I'm listening to music with a lot of distortion they sound great. When I'm not listening to music or listening to something calm...*hhSSsssSSSSSSS*
Now knowing that my ears are sensitive to this I would never buy these again and would research other speakers to be sure that they do not have the hiss. Frankly I do not know the reason that a company would make speakers that emit a fairly loud hissing sound that cannot be turned down or off. They always hiss.
