This one is better for a little more. AMD 7900x and RTX 4080 SUPER https://www.costco.com/msi-aegis-...08016.html

It's…fine. It's from Costco which is a plus for returns, but it's a 4080 non-super. The one with the super was this price from Lenovo directly last week. Similar specs from dell and ones with amd ryzen 7800x3d from cyberpower were cheaper on bf especially if you jumped through cash back hoops. There is no chip upgrade for this btw without replacing the motherboard.

You should not be putting down that much on it around 1000-1300 is a good budget to not spoil him too much

If you have a Chase card, check the offers for one for Lenovo. I've got 15% cash back (for up to $100 total cash back) on a few of mine. Wish I had that when I bought my new desktop a couple months ago!

Nah, RTX 4090 can run on 3.0 PCIE slot without any performance issues.

I think you missed the point. He was asking about 50xx not 4090

I wouldn't touch this, I dont think its that great of a price, and especially because of the instability of 14th gen intel processors, I wouldn't go near this. Im sure in reality it would be fine, but there are better deals out there.
You mean all those issues that got resolved with a microcode update and are completely transparent to the end user?

Let's not forget that the Ryzen 7 was having very similar problems almost around the same time, yet somehow there's no caution with picking up those systems. Why? Because AMD handled it and life goes on. Intel have done the same.

Rather than fear monger, try to remind yourself that the system is under manufacturer warranty, which is one of the reasons to buy a prebuilt to begin with.

The system could arrive on fire and it's not your problem.

Check out 14th generation chip issue I wouldn't get it there's a reason why they are on sale.
No, they're on sale because the next generation ships starting next quarter. Even the AMD 7900x chipset with 4080 super is on sale, which has no issues. Why is that on sale, oh, wise one?

The answer here is absolutely "yes", it will work fine with a 5000 series GPU. If Nvidia changes something, the disparity between generations tends to bring adapters to accommodate (a la 12VHPWR cable connections). The PCI-E slot won't be an issue, as someone else pointed out, because the high end cards today aren't even taking full advantage of PCI-E4.0 and if they somehow DID you'd only see small performance gaps.

Legion has a wonderful case and well built.

No Cyberpower or buypower for me.

Looking for a Legion 5 since I do not need that much horsepower.

I wait for sale on this. Probably will go down to 300 bucks.
