Thanks! These are excellent Xmas gifts. I've had a number of "uncommon brand names" and none have failed me yet in the Texas heat over the years. Hopefully this is the same.

If you're leaving them in your car year round they'll last a year or so. I'm in Baltimore so cold winters and hot summers. I try to buy the jump starts around 25 or 35 dollars because I expect to have to replace it every year or two at most

What's a "name" starter that will be accountable to be consistent enough in case of issue? Once an issue happens with a battery, I figure a battery fire could happen regardless of brand. I also doubt these big "names" care enough to not play warranty games for the additional price paid for the brand name. I have a "no name" one of these that's done me perfectly fine for almost 7 years, and use it a few times a year in a tropical climate.

Same. I have an a no name 800A BaseUS I bough 5 years ago that's been deleted from amazon listing. I jumped 1 car, 1 suv. Only failed to jump a completely dead battery.

You will be lucky if you get two years out of one these guys. Thats why I recommend spending double this and getting a battery less jump starter with super caps in them, they last a lifetime and will work in any temperatures and can be stored without worry no matter the extremes. My current one is going about 5 years strong now. Best of all does not require any maintenance or remembering to charge it every 4-6 months....

The only nice things about this avapow is that it includes a cheap air compressor.

Not only does he pump a tire with a significant leak, he also drives the car at the same time he's pumping the tire.

I've had an avapow for ~2y. Used it 4 or 5x to help stranded motorists without issue. Not sure if this model has "dead battery" mode or whatever its called though.

Supercap jump starters can't recharge your electronic devices either. Supercap jump starters are great at JUST that, jump starting. A lithium battery jump starter usually comes with an emergency light, it can recharge electronic devices, and in this case comes with a compressor. Lastly depending on how low your battery is, a supercap jump starter might not work because the battery might not have enough residual charge.
I been looking at super cap jump starters for years, but can't bring myself to spend the money on them because of their single application vs lithium ones. Also to all the people saying high heat will kill your battery in a few years: I've had the same lithium pack for 10 years now, bought it in Maryland in 2014 and now live in SoCal and it still jumps my compact cars just fine. It's always lived in my car in the spare tire cavity in it's fabric case. Not saying heat is not a factor, just that it might not be AS detrimental as some say.

Yep, but if your main priority is the jump starter, get a good one that will always work, compared to one that could be dead when you need it most.

I actually have the lite model which they no longer even make, this one is an upgrade over the lite in every way, I paid around $80 for the lite, which looks identical. Now that I looked up the date in 2021. So its been going strong for over 4 years now in Chicagos extreme climate changes, with no issue cause it has no batterys.
