As Trump would say "Fired!!"

That being said getting my brother to buy this good price and $70 off motherboard will not be beat anytime soon.

It is for many games, but Intel is apparently looking to address this through BIOS and driver updates. We'll see how successful that is or isn't.
The upsides, though, are good productivity performance and less power usage. Power and heat were really getting out of control with 13th and 14th gen. And, presumably, hopefully, the degradation bug is solved.

Do not buy this, Pat can no longer support you ☹. Jokes aside this is just bad.

For the same price same price you can get a 12900k, 9700x, or 7600x3d WITH DDR5 RAM INCLUDED , and on a platform with an upgrade path. Making this a really bad idea for almost anyone.

This is probably the only cpu series this new mobo socket will see. It has bad game performance, it has worse productivity performance to its own product like from the last 2 gens, it has no hyper threading, this just isn't it.

If you could get the 285k at this price and did a lot of productivity/simulation games and only upgraded every 4+ years this would be a good deal.

This aint it.

Last gen intel performs better.

This gen is more efficient, but who wants the same or lest performance when you have to buy a motherboard as well? ConfusedConfusedConfused

Go AMD this gen or intel last gen (14th).

If you watch gamer nexus' review on this, it's a good outline.
There are arguments to go with the 14th gen i9 because the ultra mobos are very expensive.
No reason to get this for gaming what so ever over ryzen in terms of price for performance.
285k is better for productivity but still incredibly expensive for what it is.

This is why I hate Intel. Always a new mobo and forced obsolescence. I literally just built a budget AMD system but I had 64GB of DDR4 sitting around. Well 7900x, B650 mobo for $400 and DDR4 no problem. I could have gone DDR5 also.

It wasn't a problem when mobo were $70 but now you are dropping 50-80% of the price of a proc on a stupid circuit board and well good luck on your cooling solution.

Then they rebrand everything and make it even more confusing that before. Intel has lost its way.

There is a reason why Intel showed the CEO the door.

How did you build an AM5 system with DDR4? Because that's not possible.

I must have referred to the wrong platform, I just built an AM5 and an Intel 14th gen. The 14th gen is DDR4, so I must have mis-spoken. The AM5 platform is DDR5, you are correct.

I built the 14th gen on a ASRock Z690 Steel Legend which is DDR4. I did pay $120 for that board it is great because it has 8 SATA ports on board for my NAS server and 3 NVMe.

So I guess my I hate Intel is muted Smilie
