For the longest time, I was the biggest proponent of the Sonos platform. The style, the sound, the ease of use was all best in class. So much so, I had my entire house and outdoors wired in Sonos. And then, right at the start of the summer, all went south. The app issue really messed up a lot of people, me included. On days, I still struggle with connectivity, discoverability, and playability. This problem still exists, and I know they are working on it.

The brand now has the highest negative perception than it has ever had. It is valued at $1.7B. If they cannot get back to a steady state and make things right very quickly, this could spell more pain in the capital markets. I hope the company survives but it could go bankrupt or could be bought off. My concern now is what happens to our investment if that does happen.

But if this company continues, this is a good price !!!!

Been waiting on this to come back around. Got a Gen 1 Beam myself, it's plenty of soundbar and I cannot really tell a meaningful difference between it and Gen 2. I like both better than the first gen Arc so I am all set!

App does not matter for basic HT use so that's moot.

Dialogue Enhancement on the Gen 2 is infinitely better and worth the extra cost

I use a pair of Ones on my desk as a stereo pair (about 4 feet apart, and 3-4 feet from my ears). I'm curious the Era 100's 2nd tweeter makes the use as a stereo pair suboptimal? I would enjoy the extra bass that apparently is available with the Era 100, but would love to hear if anyone else uses them in this way.

Thanks!

I've bought the Beam Gen 1 and 2 as well as the Arc. Beam Gen 2 is the sweet spot for sound and value imho. Worth the upgrade over Gen 1 for sound improvements, and better than the Arc at producing clearly understandable TV/Movie dialog.

Fantastic prices and Sonos are rock solid so I wouldn't have any concern buying refurbished. The only outlier is the roam but they're replacing those out of warranty

I ended up grabbing a Beam Gen 1 for $191. I don't care about Atmos or TrueHD audio over eARC for a bedroom tv, i have a full receiver home theater system in the living room. I just wanted something with HDMI CEC/ARC, Spotify, and Airplay that sounds decent in a small package. The Beam 2 while better, wasn't worth the 55% higher price for my use case. All in i was $198 out the door for the Beam gen 1. I have some spare Play 1's i could use for surrounds, but i will probably just run the beam standalone.

For those curious, the Beam 2 differences are:
- Dolby Atmos Support
- eARC for more audio bandwidth over HDMI ARC if your tv supports it
- plastic grill vs fabric on gen 1
- allegedly a little better sound

Is it better to buy direct from Sonos or on eBay via Sonos official?
